It seems like before we can get you going you need to format the CF card in the Amiga, I can send you a 3.1 install disk to use if it helps.

PM me.

Steve.

My bet: there is partition table on that CF card.
Remove any partitions or better blank first megabyte of that card using dd command under any linux live cd. Beware, dd could damage Your real HDD.
Is disabledrivesafetycheck set for winuae?

I've sent you a PM, but I've just dug out and unboxed my A1200 and ALL of the Workbench disks aren't there God knows where they are!

And with WB disk sets going for stupid money on fleaBay it looks like I'm totally screwed

Yes, you make sense, thank you.

I've managed to add the CF card as a hard drive under WinUAE by selecting the controller as IDE0 (but the r/w is still ghosted) BUT, when I set up the partitions etc. in HDToolBox it won't let me save/write the configuration.

Thanks for the time you've taken writing the set up guide, I'll let you know how I get on but it seems so comprehensive that I don't foresee having any problems.

I received the last part (ribbon cable) from Hong Kong today so I can go ahead and install it all in the next day or so

Ok, I've just managed to get around to doing this.

This may be a stupid question, but which side of this is Pin 1???

Thanks.

Thanks for that.

I also found this pdf which is quite useful because the pics show the orientation of the card and cable.

I've swapped the jumper from that pic, but yet again it's unclear which pin is number 1!

It looks like mine, so the pic is correct.
You will soon find out.
