Does anyone have any experience with the dkb1240

I got a dkb 1240 (030/50 , 882/50) accelerator.
And there is something i don't really understand.

When i look in sysinfo, it lists the MMU as "MMU 68030 (NOT IN USE)"

Are there somewhere where you have to enable it or?
Do you need to have a 68030.lib?

can this be one of the reasons that my system is rather unstable?

also... it seems to get more unstable when i add bigger memory simms

This is the board, does anyone have any kind of experience with it?
http://amiga.resource.cx/exp/dkb1240

Hope that someone can clarify this for me

This does not indicate a fault with the MMU.

SysInfo will show that the MMU is in use only when it is actually being used concurrently by another running process.

can a moderator maybe change the name of the thread to something like "Does anyone have any experience with the dkb1240?"

Or should i start a new thread for that?

I've been using a DKB 1240 in my main system for many years. It started to become unstable for a while, so I did some tests to see what might be causing it. After trying various PSUs and configurations, fresh Workbench installs, new RAM, trying it in another A1200, I finally found the problem, and fixed it with Blu-Tack.

Here's the first test you should try. Boot up into Workbench and wait for all disk activity to finish. Now bash the desk under the A1200. Bash the desk a few times and see if the A1200 crashes. If it does, maybe the accelerator is moving around too much inside the trapdoor slot like mine was. A few big blobs of Blu-Tack and my Amiga doesn't randomly crash or crash whenever the cat jumps on the desk anymore.

Is this true about the MMU? My card and also "MMU 68030 (NOT IN USE)" if so how can I test the MMU?

Guys can you tell me if AmiGameBoy works on your cards?

I bought my card Cheap! as the DKB Cobra but is clocked at 40mhz - Ive never had any stablity problems.

http://amiga.resource.cx/exp/cobra

if you look here the 40 mhz cobra is the one with the 68ec030 (no mmu)

are you sure there is a full 68030 cpu on it? it's the one with the plastic cpu on right?

I had the DKB Cobra 68030. It was the version with 28 MHz 68030. I sold it 'cause I found my Blizzard 1220 (68EC020 - 28 MHz) faster than it, however it had MMU, the possibility to mount up to 128 MB. I updated immediately its firmware to be compatible with 3.1 ROM and I found it very stable.

I updated the firmware of my 1240 aswell in order to use it on kickstart 3.1

I've tried with a 64 mb module i got my hands on, but i think it makes it even more unstable

I now started resoldering the entire board, since some of the solderings do not look too great.

That might also be your problem rebel, since bluetag solved your problem.
Could be that it some loose connections in place.
