Workbench disks can be dumped perfectly into standard .ADF format. No SPS tools required.

I guess that's not the point. The SPS team dumped physically unprotected Amiga DOS games too.

Then I guess it's the infamous Amiga intellectual property issue again.

But it's a preserved own copy, it's sent only to the person who owns it. That's why SPS operate the way they do. How could WB be different.
I do understand them probably wanting to not do it though "just in case"

I was told they basically don't want to do apps, period, and that includes Workbench, because they were typically not on-disk copy protected as many games were (thus necessitating SPS in the first place).

I don't necessarily agree with their POV, but given their limited resources, I do understand them restricting scope.

Thanks.

What you could do (or anyone who already has the dumping software) is to actually DUMP your disks. We won't turn them into something in the near future... but if we happen to be there after World War 3 (I strongly hope this is never going to happen), and only one copy of Workbench disks is left in the form of a RAW dump... we'll be glad to have it.

On the other hand, Cloanto, which own the IP (or part of it, whatever), have already made ADFs from the original masters and have made sure they are authentic, genuine and valid. I mean, hey, take a look at the Hybris they have on Amiga Forever... it boots... right into the credits screen which says "BY QUARTEX!"... ummm... Sorry, could not resist.

So yes, we have limited resources, have chosen not to work on apps and other things for the time being, but again... dumping and putting the RAW files on hold won't hurt anyone.

You could as well wait for KryoFlux and use this to dump. Will be fast and reliable.
