Poseidon Stack

Hi to all,
i try to use Poseidon stack with my A1200 Mediator and SpiderUSB 2.0 card, but everytime i try to use my USB Flash Disk (mounted as UMSD: device) i get read/write errors.
Here it is the mountlist for this device

/* $VER: UMSD 1.1 (13.05.02)
*
* File system entry for mass storage devices using FAT file systems.
*
*/

FileSystem = L:fat95
Device = usbscsi.device
Flags = 0
LowCyl = 0
HighCyl = 1535
Surfaces = 2 /* bootblock values have priority over these */
SectorsPerTrack = 64
SectorSize = 512
Buffers = 32
BufMemType = 1
BootPri = 0
Stacksize = 4096
Priority = 5
GlobVec = -1
DosType = 0x46415401 /* change as needed */
Control = "+s"
/* DosType = 0x4D534400 */

/* The Unit field is controlled by tooltypes in the PC0 icon.
*
* Unit = 0
*/

Can somebody find where is the error ?
Thanks

Compatibility with the spider drivers were withdrawn from the later versions of Poseidon due to piracy by Elbox.

You'll have to go back several versions (Current 3.8, last spider compatible version 2.1b(?)) in order to get anything to work.

I am sure you already knew that... which version are you using?

Yes, i know... i already asked if this is true to Elbox and they told me it's NOT true.

I use 2.0, but i have several problems with USB stack.
When i exit from Trident i get a crash with 0B final.
I still do not understand why i can use only the first three ports of Spider controller and NOT the internal port connected to the two external in D-Box tower.
Do u use it ? And where to find 2.1b ?

That's one hell of a shitty misunderstanding, that kept me, and quite a few of other Amigans from buying this, with all the "bad smell" behind the situation...
Unfortunately the fault is on both sides, and as long as people will be people...

It is true that support for Spider cards has been withdrawn.

I dont think it was a misunderstanding.

Elbox created an "Anti-Piracy" feature in their usb.driver which erased the RDB of your hard drive if triggered. This angered Poseidon author who informed Elbox they could no longer include Poseidon on their CD until they removed this feature.

Elbox never complied with the authors requests for changes to the usb.driver. Sales of Poseidon keys were withdrawn to make it impossible for new Spider owners to get a Poseidon Key and existing Spider keys were made incompatible with future versions of Poseidon.

It was then Elbox was caught demoing using an older key they did not own. They claimed something like "we bought it for an employee who then left and as such we have the rights to use it". But it clearly states in the end user license that Poseidon keys are non transferrable. End of story surely?

These are not the actions of an innocent party.

All Elbox had to do was rebuild their usb.device without the malicious code and everything would have been fine.

Anyhow it is academic, Poseidon author Chris Hodges is no longer developing for the Amiga.

Have you tried Aminet?

Dead wrong. Spider works with the 3.x versions including 3.8.

@alexh: It's really hard to argue with that argument, when I've totally forgot mine, since it's been a while when the incident happened ... but... the truth is *ALWAYS* in the middle...

Yes. Works as well as Poseidon does on any other hardware. Unregistered has timeout and transfer limits of course.

Maybe Chris Hodges reversed his decision later? Perhaps Elbox came around to his way of thinking?

hello,

poseidon last version work OK with spider2.

BTW, I have used some months ago an USB hardware who cause read error and finally the smae on the PC side. The hardware was just too cheap and not reliable.

support for spider2 is stopped forever by the poseidon author !!!!! Next poseidon relase will work ONLY with deneb and highway hardware !!!

The actual poseidon software is the last version for 68k spider2 and the author not register poseidon anymore for all the peoples. Poseidon now is selling ONLY with hardware (highway, deneb,...).
