I made an Ubuntu test version but it needed every gadget redone and was a bit of a mess. This was also before I added HTTP downloads. I might have another look after I finish my Amiga Game Selector collection.

Just set up a 600 and used the tool to update an old collection. Its fantastic! Thankyou. The filters are great, takes all the legwork away deleting unwanted files.

Quick question if downloading in "A500 Mini" (255 max per directory) mode...if a new future WHD release takes a directory over 255, how is that handled - is everything cascaded "down" and the entire following directory structure rebuilt and files moved if necessary to keep the 255 file limit intact, or does it just download and it's up to the user to fix it?

I was hoping that users would upload their lists. This obviously didn't happen. The green items are whdload archives that you have downloaded already.

I found a few lists in your code distro. So I tried them.

When you say download already, how does this work? Duplicates in the list? Is it a limitation on the server?

I used to program in Visual Basic 6. You use Power basic, I think I read somewhere. What's that like? A lot of controls to choose from? I had a quick look at it, and it's fairly cheap compared to what Visual Studio used go for.

I love your software, and I hope you get a job coding for Retro Games or somewhere.

Just my tuppence worth : if you add multiselect to that list box, you could export a list by cycling through the whole list. I think you'd get people sharing lists if you could produce something like that. There are at least a couple of ways to implement it.

The tool downloads whdload files.

If you already have them downloaded (because you started the download process) and they are in place in your configured download folder they will appear green and will not be downloaded again. You can go into your downloads folder and find those green ones there.

I've had a few days break from developing Amiga Game Selector so here's an updated version of my WHDLoad download tool. This version adds CRC32 checking and support for the new Beta - Demos folder in Retrogame's folder on the Turran server. As there is a lot of new stuff in the background, please treat this as a beta and post any bugs below.

You will find that this new release is slightly slower as it needs to scan each file as it is downloaded. It also has to scan the folders with your archives in them and add extra data to the database. I've tried to minimize the amount of times this is done and by default it is only done when the dat files are loaded or you refresh the database (F5). Pretty much everything else is unchanged.

Fixes / Updates

- Added CRC32 checking to the update procedure.
- Added support for the new Beta Demo folder on the FTP. All beta files are still saved to the selected beta folder.
- Users are now prompted to download the dat files when a prefs file is loaded and no data has been downloaded.
- All download files are size checked against the dat files and removed it they are wrong.
- HTTP download errors are logged in a file called error_log.txt.
- You can now toggle the file tree in the download preview.
- Downloads are a tiny bit slower as the files are size and crc checked once received.
- You can now save the download list as a text file.
- Fixed status bar spacing.
- Changing prefs files will prompt for clearing the database and will rescan the WHDLoad folders.
- Save Prefs button is now active all the time.
- The file list now shows any errors in your files by highlighting them with red for missing and blue for bad CRC32.
- Moved all donate links to a new window.

ACP/TCP Games or Games still on sale so won't be included in the downloads.

"Make folder" option does not work on the latest version 1.3, when selected and a folder is chosen it just gives the error "Nothing to copy".

Tested on version 1.21 an this works fine on the older version.

Any chances of there being an Amiga-native version of this tool?

I can see this being useful on a PC to download a fresh copy of all the WHD's for a given machine/architecture and then transferred over via a CF or SD card, but then a version that could run natively on a networked Amiga to maintain and update the collection would be nice.
