Which are the best sound settings
to respect the original Amiga 500 sound ? I mean what kind of frequency, interpolation, audio filter, ect. to use. in the WinUAE sound page The sound is the aspect of Amiga 500 i really love Thanks in advance to everyone |

Probably going to be down to personal preference but I like to use stereo 44100, emulated a500 filter, 0% seperation. no interpolation.

There is difference between best sound quality and real hardware sound quality
Good example is filter setting. Best: high sampling rate (not sure if >48KHz is worth the CPU usage..), sinc interpolation. Increase stereo separation setting if you think it makes sound "better". |

Sure, i'm talking about "real hardware sound quality" emulation of Amiga 500,
not about my personal preference So thank you Toni but what about ALL settings of the sound page ? For example i know original amiga had sound output with 22050 frequency, so i should set this value ? |

All 4 Amiga hardware channels are resampled to rate in sound panel -> bigger is better. Note that every Amiga hardware channel can (and will) have different sample rate. btw, Amiga max frequency is about 28KHz, or 56KHz with special tricks. |

No point in anything above 48 kHz

You have incorrect idea of how Amiga sound hardware operated. Amiga produces audio at 3.54 MHz sampling rate. This is because Paula, the sound chip, runs at this clock, and it's more or less directly hooked into the analog audio output plugs. Now Amiga could not make use of much of this immense bandwidth. The way WinUAE and UADE are built mean that the higher sampling rate you use at PC, the better approximation of genuine Amiga sound you get. My personal recommendation is 48 kHz, sinc, Amiga 500 filter. (I haven't ever seen WinUAE GUI, but these are the keywords to look for.) |

If you go above 48 kHz such as 96 kHz you just waste your CPU, there is no signal produced in the 24 - 48 kHz ultrasonic audio range, just noise around -80 dB level. |
