Turrican II Live Orchestra Album by Chris Huelsbeck on Kickstarter

Surprised this hasn't been posted before (or my search skills are seriously lacking), I'd like to mention Chris Hülsbeck's latest Kickstarter project:

A Turrican II Live Orchestra Album, performed by the FILMharmonic Orchestra Prague.

Having visited the "Symphonic Shades"- and "East meets West"-concert in Cologne, I'm really looking forward for more Turrican tracks beeing played by an orchestra (for a recording).

Hm. I could enjoy the Final Fantasy tunes in orchestral format, but Turrican 2... that's too much of a format change for me. I like the tracks to have their electronic sound with a beat behind them.

Still, its always nice to see the guy loves the old work as much as we all do. I hope his project succeeds.

Overfed by the Turrican music or orchestral versions of games music in general?

I agree, that those numerous Turrican remixes on Amigaremix.com, Soundcloud, YouTube, etc. satisfied my interest a long time ago and I would rather see some of Hülsbeck's less famous tracks remade. Nethertheless orchestral versions still are something special for me.

No, overfed by all those games music adaptations that appeared in crowdfunding in recent years. Seems every author wants to do it, some of them even several times.

Seems like they keep being unable to get work so they rely on nostalgic fools to fund their living.

You don't see other guys like Jesper Kyd doing this

Chris wrote on Twitter that he and his wife sold their house and bought a motorhome to work while travelling the US. Here's their blog about it: http://thecruisincrew.com/home/

And?

If that is a good idea, then let them all do it. Why would they refrain from doing it if *they* like it and if *their public* likes it?

Is there a rule that says that only a limited number of people should do a given thing and that after that threshold is reached that thing is no longer "cool" anymore? I certainly do welcome this idea and wish that every composer of which the music is a good fit for such conversion will do it. I am not forced to buy or listen to the ones I am not interested in after all.

I love you Akira, but this post contains too much speculation and generalization to be reasonable. Chris Huelsbeck still holds a very solid reputation in the current video games industry music scene and it is ridiculous to think that is the only scheme he has found to feed his family.

Always assume good intentions: he likes the idea and wants to do it for the sake of it and because he thinks there is a public who agrees with him. He has access to the right people to do it, why should he not for rabbit's sake?

Negativity helps no one, especially without facts.

Hugs and kittens,
ReadOnlyCat

PS: note, I love you as well Predseda.

Also, for the kittens who missed the KickStarter (this one included), Chris has registered the project to MegaFounder so it is still possible to participate and get some of the rewards which have not yet been fully allocated as well as hopefully reach other stretch goals (more tracks and stuff).

https://www.megafounder.com/turrican...rchestra-album

This kitten is quite happy that he can also get his version of it. I cannot wait to hear [ Show youtube player ] played with all the depth and majesty of an orchestra!
