help with WHDLoad and Tooltypes
Did fresh OS3.1.4 yesterday on my 1200 Tower..all good. Installed latest WHDLoad with no issues. Tried to run a few WHDLoad games and nothing happened when double clicking the game icons??? As usual when strange stuff happens on my miggies out comes SnoopDOS and it told me what you see in attached pic....tried re-installing from different download of WHDLoad in case something was corrupt int the first one but exact same issue and this only happens with WHDLoad on my system
update: issue solved! Last edited by klx300r; 06 April 2021 at 18:31. Reason: issue solved! |

where did you get s:whdload.key ? did you register? if you didn't this could be a pirated key, in that case, delete it, it'll work better.

@jotd
that's my own key that I paid for years ago so can't be the problem...tool type/ data type issue with latest WHDLoad download files only it seems Last edited by klx300r; 03 April 2021 at 22:10. Reason: type 0's |

of course I was not accusing you of using a pirated key. It's just that pirated keys can come with old owner or some archive, and cause huge issues.
Now maybe you can try to run whdload using the command line, see if it helps: Code:
whdload mygame.slave preload |

You probably didn't enter the proper arguments.
Can you post a screenshot of the error & the text of what you typed ? |

AHA! yes now we're getting somewhere! after renamed those 2 files now when I click on whdload icon Im getting error..can't find devs:kickstarts/kick34005.a500'
now I know all my kick files were transferred over from a back up CD so could be that when I made the CD backup on my PC the file attributes weren;t copied over! I will try to copy the kickstart files from my other amiga now via floppy and see if this fixes the issue.....this happened to me once before many years ago ....and problem solved after copy my kickstart files and whdload key from my Amiga via floppy! Thanks jotd for getting me on the right track Last edited by klx300r; 05 April 2021 at 22:39. Reason: eureka moment ! |

Did you do any other changes? Maybe a new SD/CF harddisk?
Just asking because your problem sounds exactly the same I had. When I installed 3.1.4, I put a new SD-HD in at the same time. When setting up/partitioning it, I didn't set the MAXTRANSFER because with 3.1.4 it wasn't supposed to be needed any more. From the start I started having all kinds of strange problems so I set MAXTRANSFER back to what I had before with 3.1 (don't remember any more but it can be easily found online) and all the problems went away immediately. EDIT: I still want to add that it was WHDLoad with what I encoutered all the problems the first time, setting up WB and stuff went fine. EDIT2: Oh, reading again I see you solved the problem. Still, all what I wrote above stands if the problem comes back. This "can't find devs:kickstarts/kick34005.a500" is exactly one of the problems I had eventhough the file surely was there. @ PDrill
thanks for the info as I too thought that maxtransfer issue didn't affect OS3.1.4 installs?...will have to check my system later |
