@Rob - definitely, that was a good price.
I think the Jap/US original Saturn games are really nice items to collect. |

I'm not 100% sure but I thought it was the case that the Action Replay 4M allows you to play all import games but I don't think it allows the use of back up game disks Steve...
Alex - what do you think...? |

Just checked ebay, they import Street Fighters are quite cheap :-) And look like nice items to collect as you say Peter. Last edited by fitzsteve; 19 January 2011 at 12:28. Reason: yay |

I really wanted a Saturn they look excellent. Nearly bought one over Christmas but decided I don't want anything that outputs 15khz video as it's too much hassle when I don't have a CRT.
There's quite a few Saturn vids on youtube and some of the games look graphically very nice especially the 2d stuff. I'll have to be content with getting a Dreamcast instead... |

No idea mate, bought it (The Saturn) from some German dude with the Mod already done
Didn't really ask Questions, fully working and modded Saturn with controller for €25 I'll know if it works in a few days as the Action Replay will be here and I have already those burned JAP games from before, I didn't bin them luckily... Steve. |

I'm just puzzled as to what the Action Replay Cartridge does in conjunction with the mod to enable back up disks to play.
I thought the Action Replay Cartridge just added more RAM if needed so as you can play the games that need more RAM - I understand it also offers Action Replay code options and the ability to play imported games. I wonder if your mod will let you play back up games but the games you have downloaded are games that need the 4MB RAM to play...? Did you try any other back up disks that shouldn't need additional RAM? Update - actually I have just re-read the whole thread and I think I understand the problem now...! The Saturn does play back up's but only PAL games and that is why you need the Action Replay Cart to be able to play games from different regions... I get it - bit slow tonight! Hey Peter,
I got my action replay and good news its allowing me in conjunction with my mod chip to play backups from other regions Just laid down some law on Metal Slug (USA) version This is one of the games I burned before that did not play with just the mod chip. All in all, great news. No more mods needed for me to enjoy my games. What import games should I be looking for? Love shooters & figters mainly. Sorry not into RPG's Steve. |

Thanks Retro-Nerd
Already downloading Radiant Silvergun and Peters suggestion 'In the Hunt.' Will look at the others, much appreciated. Only bad news is I've run out of CDR's |

If you like strategy at all, Dragon Force (From Working Designs) is the game to have. Really, the only reason I bought a Saturn. Unfortunately the wonderful sequel wasn't translated but you can play it with the 4meg AR cart. Just takes a bit to get the menus down but if you have played the original you'll figure out the Katakana after awhile.

Magic Knight Rayearth was the last great action RPG on the Saturn and arguably the best.
