I just played through Level 1 of rocknroll and after I finished the level WinUAE throws up this message. Whats does this mean?

it seems it tries to save...... You are using a crack that still use original routines
Can you post which rock n roll crack version you use please young lady ? |

I guess it tries to save to game disk? Game uses custom save format that can't be stored in a standard adf.
Quick solution: zip the game adf and insert it in df0: and finally write-enable it in winuae gui Slower solution: copy adf to extended ("custom") adf. |

It's in TOSEC. Maybe the PNA crack doesn't have that problem? Furthermore why not using the WHDLoad version?

Do you mean that inserting a .zip file (it will be considered as write-protected by WinUAE, right?) will result in it being treated in a similar way as for .ipf files (save data stored somewhere else than the disk image itself) ? |

Yes thats what it means.
WinUAE cannot write back to adf inside zip files (thanks goodness for this) and does indeed create savedisks automatically as long as write protect isn't ticked in the floppy options. Last edited by Ian; 29 October 2009 at 18:39. |

Ok I think it kinda worked by the zip method although I still got the message pop up, but when I looked in SaveImages, Rock'n Roll (1989)(Rainbow Arts)_save.adf is there.
Does this mean the next time I play it shouldnt pop up? Do I have to load that save adf in disk 2? Also the save file is 2meg! thats huge compaired to the game adf! |

Will the newly created "extended adf" savedisk contain the save data only, or will it contain a mfm copy/conversion of the ipf/zip disk too?

If the game doesn't save your game at all try using a 'custom' disc like Toni said
(in Floppy drives tab of WinUAE) |

Only the saved/changed data. Create one and have a look with a hex viewer. A lot of 0's in it

Don't you wonder by:
'This message will not appear again' It shouldn't appear again, no matter if you manage to get it working or not But good to hear it's working |

Saved fine with no popup
It's quite a tedious game actually but one of my favorites |
