Of course I know the game...
Tales From Heaven is featured on the coverdisc of the last issue of the legendary Amiga Format magazine. It also got a (not so favorable) review in the mag. If you would like to read the HTML-ised review, check it out on my site.
I definitely want to play the game in a future version of WinUAE. |

When i got the coverdisc I loaded the game on an A1200 030 with 2meg chip and 16 meg fast.
I thought that while it was an achievement to have a 3D platformer on Amiga and it's obvious a lot of hard work went into the game, the graphics and lack of gameplay made it become very boring very quickly. Sorry and all that but that's just my personal opinion. The demo runs under winUAE with picasso96 emulation at a decent enough speed but it doesn't look all that different and there is no change to the gameplay. Was the 3D engine ever used for anything else? The engine showed real promise and given some tweaking and optimisations could probably be made to do a lot more. |

the engine was used before in some demos. Later even was converted for Playstation.
I remember I did a lot of effects with my brother for demo productions but many were never released it.. . Amyway in the end sequence of TalesFromHeaven theres a cool demo effect which one I almost designed completely.. To tell the truth I never played much Tales,.. and Im unable to reach the end. =} Last edited by JudasEZT; 11 August 2020 at 01:46. |

I think the GBA platform would/is ideal for the 3D engine.
I forgot to mention I have a probem with the CGX version of TFH whereby when it loads, it goes straight to the game - there's no intro of any kind. Then, after losing the 3 lives i get a software error... ==================================== TfH_Stage1CGX Program Failed (error #87000004) Wait for disk activity to finish. Suspend Reboot ==================================== Just letting you know! BTW, the demo is on AFCD52 from Amiga Format issue 136 (May 2000) Damn, that was over 3 years ago!!!!! Screenshots...
