I agree, Galahad.

And the most advanced T17 titles weren´t produced in-house.
(Super Stardust, Alien Breed 3D...)

some great points you raise there Galahad... youve done a good job of making me feel more guilty about not being able to vote for Bitmaps! but theres a few elements i feel you "brush past" which make me feel ok about giving it to Sensi tough call though

SWOS is so much more than another "football game" - and no mention of Cannon Fodder?

I would have said Sensible for SWOS & mega lo Mania but as an overall package Bitmaps get my vote!

I enjoyed most if not all their games, spending days/nights on Cadaver, Gods, Speedball II, Xenon II, Chaos Engine. Xenon was pap, and Speedball I never played.. CE2 was pap too!

Team17 were fab at what they did, but they were not overly original and I think Superfrog was/is massively over-rated. Project X and Alien Breed were both good, but Worms bored me after a while, and I have lost respect for the franchise cuz it's all they do now! Speris Legacy I just couldn't get into, AB3d and AB3D 2 were poo imo!

If you don't rate football games, thats exactly what SWOS is, just 'another' football game.

Cannon Fodder was good, but it had quite limited appeal, Mega-Lo-Mania was by far the more accomplished of the two. In my opinion of course!

*shakes head*

Gods? please.... its not anymore than the 2rd rate platformer at best...

To be honest there are a few of other platformers of that year that spank it hands down but arguably between a game of gods or a forced 2 hour session of Rick Dangerious 2 and a half then simply i prefer rick dangerious2 1/2! and that is an exercise in inrcedible tediousness.

Oh and that list (of few) i was on about
  • Leander
  • PP Hammer
  • Turrican II
  • First Samurai

but other than booting the game up for the intro-tune moment.... i will never understand why.... Gods gets the Ooohs and Ahhhs.... damn shite and did i mention yawning-boring.

[okay.... bitmap brothers hate is now off...]

Please dont get me wrong though, I do love Chaos Engine, absolutely awesome from concept to execution! and I honestly believe Speedball 2 will still be spoken on the lips of much older men in 20 years time, while sheading a tear for bygons past...

(cannot comment on cadaver as i never played it...)

but as much as i loved CE and SP2.... i would give them up for Any alien breed LOL but thats just personal preff...

I haven't actualy voted here yes as,..... well i cannot... i can think of a couple of titles from each that are indeed awesome... but if any i think i will vote sensible... with mega-lo-mania / snesi golf / sensi soccer /

well now imma stumped....

project x
worms (even if they just marketed / capitalized infact franchised on it!)
Alien Breed 92
Alien Breed 2
Alien Breed TA
Alien Breed 3d

bugger....

sod voting... its to damn hard!

This poll is turning out to be very close so far.

If the Bitmaps don't get it then I hope it goes to Sensible.

Huh, T17 at the top? Surprise for me. They did a lot of good games and few excellent but BB did more excellent games.
I voted for SS because there is none other game I spent so much time with than SWOS.

Why are there only 3 developers/publishers listed? they are not even very good ones.

Where are Psygnosis, EA, Firebird, Sierra, Anco, Microillusions, Origin, Ocean, US Gold, etc.?

I see

Oh well, there's no accounting for taste as they say I guess I will vote for SensiSoft out of these three, the other two made mostly rubbish games...

Hmm, I see the other two are in the lead, goes to show
