Sorry if I am wrong, but this does not sound genuine to me...

"your own org 1200 from the late 80s....?" there was no A1200 in the 80s!

And who would steal a truckload of near worthless electronics? What else got stolen? And why is the list so unclear (Commadore? stuff was stolen but you ask for "anything, printers, monitors" or "any items for the above" that go along with the computer, without being specific?) If my collection was stolen I would know exactly what I was missing, and would not post just some generic list anyone can come up with in 1 minute...

@ angiee

I suggest that you sign up at AmiBay (www.amibay.com); we have a Recycle Bin section that can offer some of the items that you list for just the cost of postage. Once you have signed up, PM me and once we have run the security checks, you will be allowed access to the Recycle Bin. I highly doubt you'd get a PPC card offered in there though.

Apart from that, your best bet is Loot or Gumtree I reckon.

@ dirkies

I would hardly call a PPC card "worthless", considering the stupid prices being asked nowadays....

I do not think a thief who steals a TRUCKLOAD from a garage like a prehistoric BBC Micro, CRT monitors, tomato boxes full of cassettes or even 20-25 year old PAPER computer magazines would realize the value of a PPC card either...
If this would happen to me I would immediately check fleamarkets around as such a load of stuff will be sold asap, esp as they are rather personal items with no real value. (ok, perhaps the PPC and the A4000 are worth a few bucks, but then why bother emptying the WHOLE garage with old worn stuff?)

I don't believe anything of this, lost a serious collection but was never on this board until now (where has he been all these years?), moreover with lots of spelling mistakes, the just-anything-requests and the mention of being disabled (to soften us up?) just smells like scam to me... Or someone who wants to buy bulk and cheap to sell afterwards on eBay for hard cash, could be too a way to make a quick buck.... I could be wrong, but my instinct tells me different.

Guys you lot can't go and call this guy a liar!

My brother used to be a thief when he was younger (Teens) and he'd steal absolutely anything. I remember he stole 14 4 pint bottles of milk, 30lb in weight of banana's etc.

He would have not thought twice about stealing this lot, all he would have seen are the ££ signs. He knows nothing about computers ot their values.

He used to steal because he could!

@bippym: None of us are doubting that people will steal anything just for a bit of cash. We're doubting that this guy has had his stuff stolen in the first place, regardless of by whom or for what reason.

My thoughts exactly.

i typed this with out my contacts in!
RE: "Commadore"... The "a" key is on the opposite side of the keyboard to the "o" key. Hardly an easy mistake to make, with or without contacts. You also had no problem finding the "o" key for the first "o" in Commodore, and the last one.

Sorry wasn't aimed at you merlin!

StevenJGore

It might sound fishy, but that doesn't mean it is. We shouldn't assume he is lying just because of a few inconsistent remarks.

I ask angiee to prove in some way he is legit!

Sorry Bip, but i'm with the others on this one, just seems very suspicious.

In my 'Free Stuff!!!' thread, this person offered to take the lot, no tales of woe about stuff getting nicked, just offered to take the lot.

At the very least I would have been expected to be told 'oh a load of my stuff got nicked and I want to replace it'. I refused because i'm not interested in anyone profiteering on all this stuff, I just want it to goto good homes, wherever that may be.

I'm quite happy to be proved wrong, but, frankly, I don't think I or the others are.

Just way too many mistakes in the post, suggests its not genuine to me, a proper collector would probably know more about the machines than I do!

Hopefully now that A4000 and A1200 PPC have found a better home than a tomato box in a garage.

I am now curious about the purpose of this troll..
First it was poor vision, now it's dyslexia...
Exactly how are you disabled? Evidently not enough to be forbidden to drive a car.
Maybe disabled in knowledge of retro computing? (A1200 from 1991?)

What is it that you want, to get a load of stuff for cheap then sell it on ebay??
Please, tell us!

Jesus Wept!

There's been some over-reacting going on in this thread while I've been away...have you lot 'got the painters in' or summat?

I thought people had to go over to a.org to get trolled to this standard...........I am quite impressed that EAB has managed to raise it's game....

Mind you, I wasn't anything but nice to him/her, I'm not sure of the actual gender of the member; a boy named angiee? That sounds like a Johnny Cash record........
