EDIT: Just checked Jonh4p's video. Holy crap, the game runs a LOT slower on my system than what's shown on his video. Which is even more shameful to me since the game should actually be easier to me. Also, not that's making a lot of difference so far, but isn't this kinda unfair for the competition? |

Shatterhand - with this game, I can only vouch that it works at full speed for for 020/030 and above. I tried this on an 030 setup and it was slightly slower than the 060 I normally use. I had a few laps with the 030, and found my timings were completely off, and so had lots of offs and crashes.
With a game which requires a lot of CPU power, is inevitable that it runs slower on 000 based machines unfortunately. But even though the frame rate is slow, the smoothness is better on an A500/A600 than the actual shipped game, thanks to the hack - so at least the game is stuttering slightly and not juddering along like the standard PAL game. All I can say is thanks for trying, and as you say, the speed of the game is nothing to do with the skill of the driver. Id say fast reactions are better suited to a game being played fast, but timing and skill is still key. @ Graham/capehorn - thanks for qualifying me! Yes it is tough, but I found the videos on here really help. The 1:11s isnt too hard, and I used default setup just like the leaders. At estoril I cant seem to manage the first two corners perfectly, so I lost time on those even with my 1:11 scores. The 1:08s are possible, so I doubt it will be long before we get there. The top 4 cars this year made 1:08s at Interlagos, with the rest on 1:09s, so its interesting to compare times. My time would have got me about 17th on the grid this year. http://fastestlaps.com/tracks/interlagos Last edited by lifeschool; 04 December 2017 at 23:44. |

More fps is always better, more responsive controls. I'd say it's you who is at a (slight) disadvantage with your Amiga 600. Which is kinda unfair, but it's a real chore to play this game at ~8fps so we went with the modified version (we also play AGA games in the league which you can't play on a normal Amiga 600). Welcome to a whole can of worms Shatterhand. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Can_of_worms
The answer really depends on how you view the purpose(s) of the competition. Is it to promote original machine use for playing Amiga Games? Or is to promote the Amiga games scene in general? That said, 90% of the time I believe you will find the competition rounds are not going to disadvantage original machine use. And it is a consideration the mods think about. Besides, years ago I played Super Cars II in this comp on an original 500 but rather sadly I ended up reverting back to emulated on a PC as my joysticks were all fxcked. You've reminded me to get back on this... |

IMO the competition makes me want to play good old games and have fun with people fighting for the best scores. I really dislike emulation overall, so I'd prefer to always play on real hardware, even if this give me some disadavantage. I'm fine with that, it's still fun to me to take part on it like this. Also, I play with Sega Mega-Drive pads which are THE BEST CONTROLLERS EVER so I am happy with this aspect of using real hardware too, hehe. I'm surprised no one came with the wacky idea of "let's make separate tables for real hardware and emulators" which I've seen in other competitions like this. No, I don't approve this idea . |

Janci - - Its not usual I take my hat off for and EAB score, but that time was amazing. Yes I agree a 1.07 time looks possible, but I cant see how you left any room on your lap, except of course to have a few more revs in 4th at the final corner. You could also make up the time by taking 2 points away from your rear wing, and this has the effect of lightening the back end, and forcing the car to turn more rally style, and with the heavy nose, it can make steering a bit sharper. But if you take off too much rear wing, the car will became very easy to oversteer. VERY interested to see your setup and gears. I usually try lowering all the gears by 1, but increase 6th gear by 1, and this should mean more acceleration for all those corners, and a higher top speed. http://www.amigaf1.co.uk/PerfBase.html I checked the perf file of Alex Barnell 1:07.092 time and the power of his car is the same as we are driving. So his time should be possible to drive. I used his car setup. |

Amazing time Janci.. wow!
Looking at the lap records on that page.. double wow And a telemetry tracker for f1gp? triple wow!! Have you tried tracking your telemetry yet? I wonder if it is fully compatible with f1gped. I'll have a good crack at estoril on friday/saturday. I don't think my interlagos time will hold up for long now.. but I'm definitely done with that track for this round. |

Will try to extract the top 5's settings for both tracks. Here they are: Code:
Interlagos 64/39 14R 28 35 42 49 56 63 (1:08.123 Alex Barnell) 64/38 14R 29 35 42 49 56 63 (1:08.129 Oliver Roberts) 62/32 13R 27 35 43 50 58 65 (1:08.155 Alan Strang) 64/39 15R 29 35 42 49 56 63 (1:08.207 Christophe Macours) 64/39 14R 28 35 42 49 56 63 (1:08.287 René Smit) Only Alan Strang has a significantly different one. Code:
Estoril 64/40 16R 27 34 41 48 56 63 (1:07.092 Alex Barnell) 64/39 16R 27 34 41 48 56 63 (1:07.131 Oliver Roberts) 64/40 16R 27 34 41 48 56 63 (1:07.159 René Smit) 64/40 16R 27 34 41 48 56 63 (1:07.209 Rafael Ziarnik) 64/36 15R 27 35 43 50 57 64 (1:07.243 Alan Strang) Again only Alan's setup differs noticeably. Thank you Janci! You should give Ed's setup that I used a try. Made it easier for me.
