Are Coverdisks Worth Anything?

I've got loads of coverdisks, and was wondering if they're worth anything?

I reckon I've probably got between 100-150, from CU Amiga, Amiga Format, Amiga Power, The One, Amiga Action, as well as a couple of issues of Rampage, and some other randoms.....

I just tried selling a load of coverdisks on eBay.

A job lot of 25 Amiga Format coverdisks went for £0.99
A job lot of 35 CU Amiga coverdisks went for £4.64.
A job lot of 9 Amiga Shopper & Amiga Power Magazine coverdisks went for £0.99
An Amiga Action coverdisk "Sensible World of Soccer SWOS Update Disk" went for £1.64.
A job lot of 30 Amiga Format Subscribers disks didn't even sell, the minimum bid was £0.99.

So I guess the answer to your question is: No!

Steve.

Well CU Amiga disks seem more popular perhaps?

I have lots as well, but are there disks that are rare/missing that need to be uploaded to the Zone etc. They may not be worth much but perhaps are good for preservation?

You would think coverdisks would be worth something to somebody but not usually.
I think that if you had every one with every magazine then the value of them would be far more.

If I find or buy cover disks I always check to see if "Amiga Magazine Rack" has them listed before I format over them and re-use them - I just thought that this was a good idea as it does appear that some are still MIA

Do you happen to have any of the following (that I can think off my head atm)?:

Amiga Action - July 1991 - Disk 1 (R-Type 2)
Amiga Action - December 1993 - Disk 1 (C.Fodder) and Disk 2 (Brutal Sports F.)
The One - May 1994 - Disk A - Mr Nutz/Clockwiser/Ouch!/Tanx'n'Stuff

I have that The One coverdisk (Mr Nutz/Clockwiser/Ouch!/Tanx'n'Stuff). I don't intend on selling it, though I might rip it if it's not available yet (and my disk still works).

Well if you can dump it then that's fine by me! I was only going to pass the disk onto a dumper from this community anyway. XD

Mind you, I don't know if the Mr Nutz demo uses any copy protection or not (or whatever it is that results in the disk needing to be dumped to the "extended ADF" or SPS formats).

Thought I'd bump this to ask if you're still intending on dumping that disk?

My Amiga stuff's in a box right now and I'm waiting on Santa bringing me one of those PCMCIA SD-cards so I can copy the diskfile from it. It may have to wait until January. Hopefully I still have the disk and it works.

Bad news, MethodGit. I found the disk, but it's in bad shape. The metal slide is missing and gives read errors. I dumped it anyway with transdisk, but from the sound of the disk drive it's not been read properly at all.

Does anyone else have The One Amiga coverdisk from May 94, with Mr Nutz, Clockwiser, Ouch! and Tanks 'n' Stuff?

Hey all; I was just idly reading this thread, and it gave me the idea to cross reference my old cupboard full of Amiga stuff against the Amiga Magazine Rack whilst I had a little spare time... and I think I have some of the coverdisks that are missing from the Rack, but I've no way to make an .adf file from them any more. My old Win ME machine was able using a second 3.5" drive, but I've not found another way since... I've only got an old, very battered and I'm not sure if even working any more A500, and none of the cables needed to try Transdisk.

So I was thinking, if someone from AMR or some one trustworthy who'd pass the files on to the community wanted to PM me, I have the following two discs; I make no guarantee they'll work, as they've been in a cupboard for the last 10 years or so!

Amiga Format Disk 117a: Fiasco 2.2, ViewFonts2 and PoolMem

Amiga Action Disk 3 (May 1995): Sensible Massacre 2 and Demon. (SM never, ever worked on my A500 even back then)

Hi Titler,

You are welcome to send the disks to me to dump to ADF images and I will scan the disks/labels as well. I will gladly return the disks to you if you wish.

I am not connected to AMR, but as they are not renowned for their quick response to offers of this kind you could be waiting for a long time...

If the disks do not give up their data easily, I have a number of data recovery techniques that I can use.

I have previously dumped disks for bLAZER and hitm4n.

Let me know, and I'll PM you my address details if you wish to go ahead.
