Whar FreeSync monitor for tear-free smooth 50 Hz UAE (Linux) ?

Hi !! Finally, after 2 decades of using Nvidia cards, I switched to AMD, being fed up with sub-optimal desktop performance under KDE... Anyway, back to the subject :

this means I could potentially get a Freesync monitor and have FS-UAE display at 50 Hz without tearing (and a little less lag) !

Does anyone here use such a setup ? What Freesync monitor would have 50 Hz in its supported range, and if possible, would have been tested by some of you under Linux ?

Proper 50 Hz + crt shader= dream come true...

cheers !

Hi. 50 hz Monitors are not rare nowadays. I just bought some random models and both of them do 50 hz. One is a Hp 24o the other is a Philips of the same size, the latter can go down to 25 hz.
They work flawlessly under Mint/Mate.
Just have a look in the technical description before buying.

Hi ! Thanks for your reply !
Actually my question is a bit more precise : I'm looking for a FreeSync monitor ; which means it'll dynamically adapt its frequency and display frames only when they are ready. I'm wondering what I should pay attention to to make sure it works with UAE that would send frames at 50 Hz.
I'm not looking for a monitor that would specifically have a 50 Hz mode and would require a specific X configuration.
Thanks a lot !!

Depends on how much money you want to spend for a monitor. It's starts at app. 150 Euro. I have the Iilyama G-Master G2530HSU which has Freesync. Great monitor (for emulation too) which works pefectly fine within a range of 48-75Hz. Only basic features though.

But as tero said. You always have to look at the hardware specs of the display. Some Freesync monitors only goes down to 55Hz.

Hi ! Well yep indeed most seem to have a range starting at 55 Hz.... BUT, FreeSync is supposed to enable to have better performance with VSync disabled, especially if you have a framerate below 60 ? It's supposed to swap buffers exactly when the picture is ready, so... Theorically, it could sync at any frequency ?
Sorry, I'm typing in a hurry, it's probably not very clear. I wonder if this input freq limit has something to do with freesync actually.

No, i don't think it has something to do with Freesync. There are also panels which goes down to 25-30Hz. The mentioned Iiyama G-Master has a TN panel btw.

Does anyone here actually use FS-UAE + FreeSync on Linux with a smooth 50 Hz scrolling then ?
