Triple playfield in Rotator game? example attached..

Hi,
How this effect is achieved? I mean the triple playfield. There are options in Blitz for Dual Playfield. The lat plane is the rainbow, the middle is the jungle and the first plane are blocks.

Of course there are lots of games with this effect, but this one is new Rotator: [ Show youtube player ]

This looks like it's just a dual playfield with a copper effect in the background. Pretty simple to do - Blitz lets you easily add copper effects like that to a background using the Display Library.

Basically, it's not a playfield, rather a single colour that the copper updates every line to give a rainbow effect.

Hi Mateus,

I'm the Dev of Rotator, Daedalus is correct, it's a dual playfield with a copper effect to generate the rainbow behind.

A triple playfield is possible though with clever programming, I'm thinking about Agony.

I do remember figuring this out with an action reply, is it only updating half the colours and flipping 2 pages really fast or something like that?

There was also an article on Frank Sauer website that shows more visually the copperlists

Did not Cool Spot uses a similar trick for its own parallax (but 4+2 software planes at 17FPS ?)

Oh wow I've just looked at that and the whole game made me feel a bit sick, it's horrible, what a weird engine.
