The true end of Amiga

I was reading the Amiga Inc thread and to me like others have said is dead but it still exists as a hobby for retro lovers. Similar to people who still listen to frank sinatra etc. But when do you think the Amiga scene will be completely dead? Once, we the amiga generation, die, will the Amiga scene with it? Or will there be people who never had an Amiga in the originals days keep the scene alive in say 40 years. Might have its plus sides, when most Amigans have died you may be able to pick up and sx-32 pro for a £10 and a blizzard for £5 when there grand children find it in the loft.

Given the Amiga scene is under 25 years old, it's really hard to tell how long it will be alive Don't know, but I would say let's have a look at it again in ten years

Given the fact that my dad has a 75 yo car and a 300 yo clock I'd say probably never.

I've said many times the price of Amiga hardware goes in predictable cycles.

First it went down as everyone sold their Amiga's to buy PC's.
Then it creeps up as everyone got full time jobs / careers and had lots of disposable income and could afford to buy the Amiga they always wanted.
Then it goes down as people got married and their wives wouldn't let them keep all the "computer crap".
Then it goes really down as Amiga users have kids and their disposable income drops to zero.
Then there is a large peak as Amiga users buy back systems to show their kids what computers were like in the good old days.
Low again as kids go to University and disposable income drops to zero.
High again as Amiga users retire.
Low once more as Amiga users die

When I die.

I am the life and soul of everything.

Without me there is nothing.

The Amiga is like the Magna Carta.

It will never be forgotton as it was far ahead of its time and was a revalation in the infancy of the home computer era.

I reckon an Amiga 500 on the 2525 edition of Antiques Roadshow will be worth 40,000 groats

Dont you know anything, the unit of currency in 2525 is the Google-second. A timebased unit of access to Google worth approx 1hrs manual labour.

Although I really want to agree, I can't Old cars and clocks are easy: If a part fails, and can't be obtained anywhere, you can make a new part. But what if a chip fails? Chips are not so easy to make

calculate that most of amiga fanatics have now 30-40 years
in the 2050 the average will be...70-80...almost all ppl will be dead or seriously old or blind or deaf....
most fanatics will be in the geriatric hospital

in the 2060 everybody will be dead...you,me,the amiga,the fanatics,...all
the amiga hardware will be totally damaged and useless
RIP

Damn i feel like cutting my wrists now. This thread is so depressing ... I don't want to die .. waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahh.... but so many people who are in there early 20's call me old now and just last week i was talking to a guy i know who is 22 and we were talking about music, so i mentioned a couple of musical artists from the 90's and then he says to me "fuck your old!" .... it really sucked hearing him say it.

Guess Windows XP fans will die out before us
I wouldn't worry about that really. When it happens it happens and most properly we're all dead by then anyway

LOL... ah its ok, the guy is about as bright as a burnt match and as sharp as a bowling ball, so what i lose in age (as in older than him) i make up for in intelligence over him

Actually us Amiga owners are a seasoned bunch with many experiences and we all mostly lived in the BEST times of computing and those were the 80's and 90's so i am happy that i was there to see it unlike some guys that are 20 years younger and missed out on all the great Atari 2600, CBS Colecovision, ZX Spectrum, Commodore 64, Apple IIe 8 bit days & the glorious 16 bit era with the Amiga & ST(was fun to have the debates)... etc.

They really missed out BIG TIME, but us guys were THERE!

When i go to the retirement house i will make a new mod to my miggy, im already thinking in the best way to plug it to a electric Wheel Chair, Hoooooo... i can hardly wait, Lotus 3 will be so much more fun...and when i die, i will be buried with it, i will have plenty of time to play retro games and to see leytond finally put his amiga together...
