I am having issue with CrossDos

Hello guys,

I will display the entire scenario for you right now. My A500 have kickstart 2.x and I am using workbench 3.1. In workbench 3.1 there is CrossDOS PC0. I go to Storage and I double click PC0. It says it is mounted.

I format the disk to 720KB with name am for label. I take the disk and put it in my A500 and all I see is DF0:???? and that is that.

I tried to in newcli to type in pc0: and it says pc0:: unknown command. There is no other icon where I can access the contents of the fat formatted disk. I type in am: and it keeps asking for am:. It is not mounting. Any help?

DF0:???? is normal when you insert a PC formatted disk.
Check you have a CrossDOSFilesystem in l: and a mfm.device in devs:

Run snoopdos and see what happens when you type pc0:

Are you using a proper DS-DD floppy disk? If your A500 is one of the later models that came with a DS-HD drive, then the drive will switch to HD and will not be able to read the contents if it was formatted as DD.

I was thinking in the same line. I remember 1.2 MB floppy formatted 720 KB would no work. There was some magic to do but I don't recall the formula.

1.2MB disks are 51/4" and cannot be formatted to 720kB. 3½" DS-HD are 1.44MB in normal IBM format and I think we are talking about 3½" disks here.

You right of course. I wanted to talk about 1.44MB not 1.2MB.
