I always thought Battle Chess was impressive to fit on one disk with all the amazing animation.

For me:
Magic Pockets, Turrican II, Prince of Persia, Parasol Stars, Hudson Hawk, Pang, James Pond 1 and 2, Jimmy White's Whirlwind Snooker (And Archer McLeans Pool, to a lesser extent), Arkanoid II. I'm sure there are more. Do games that came on 2 disks count? If one of them is just the intro... |

Yeah, but, While I loved Magic Pockets. Adored it. Played it with a passion, some days after playing to death, maybe my friend calls, and I can't play that with him, and I don't feel like it anyhow. So we play Jimmy White! The best game, really, is what's the best in what situation. Speedball II / Jimmy White for us, was super 2 player, when together. But my myself, I often got bored quickly with Speedball II. Less so with Snooker. But I never got bored with some of the other games. Sometimes I just wanted to marvel at the sprites in Prince of Persia. Sometimes just watch the intro to Turrican II. Best depended on my mood, what I'd played recently, what else had been released, and who I was with I think life is like that too |

Magic Pockets hasn't been mentionned a lot of levels & surprises.
James Pond has 12 missions & somehow similar to Magic Pockets: a lot of completely different items & mechanics. Regarding the "Turrican IÏI amazing that they could fit on a 880kb disk" don't forget that original disk has a custom format which increases data size to 1MB Cracks were 2-disked unless they removed the intro. It's the same for a lot of MFM games which have $1800 bytes per track instead of $1600 (James Pond uses ST format for $1400 bytes per track lol) Also Ruff n Tumble has 2 disks. It doesn't qualify. I loved 1-disked games back in the day (specially the ones that loaded quickly, unlike Titus the fox...): insert the disk and don't do anything but play.
