WinUAEX (XBOX) Settings
Does anyone have tips on how to set up WinUAEX on XBOX to best simulate an A500? I set up v18 last night, and noticed there was significant problems with sound.. Specifically, no SFX in IK+ (but Music was fine). I realize the SFX in this game require exact cycle settings in WinUAE but does WinUAEX have this somewhere?

Hi, I'm using v18. I managed to fix this by going into game specific settings and enabling Exact Cycles; the emulator works pretty much flawlessley on my XBOX I'm super happy.. The image quality on my LCD was shockingly good using component cables and outputting at 720p with no filters.

yeah its quite good with compononent out @ 720P, but for me it just doesnt feel 100% accurate. Ok for a quick play I guess.
And Playing amiga with an Xbox1 controller makes it a bit weird. All in all a great addition the the xbox scene for amiga fans I guess |

Well, of course, it looks different, but overall I think it looks better.. It does have some pretty decent scanline filters if you're into that kind of stuff, I find it rather pointless though (I'm pretty sure if I had component cables and TFT screens in 92, I would have preferred a progressive flat image, not the interlaced tube image ) but horses for courses I guess.

I've got a DVD with an older version of WinUAEX (v 8 I think) and did wonder about turning the xbox into a full on Amiga emulator. I don't mind wiring up a 9 pin socket to a controller to use old joysticks, but without mouse and keyboard it's still limited. Is there any easy way to use a keyboard and mouse?

Yes usb keyboard and usb mouse work. I tried a Logitech wireless combo and that didn't work though. I think the Xbox is strictly "one device per port."
And concerning Amiga joysticks and retro controllers on the Xbox classic, it is also possible, but it is either a) currently expensive or b) requires a little bit of soldering/DIY work to hook up a DB9 to an existing controller. I hooked up the DB9 to the board of a PS1 digital controller because it has nice exposed testpoints and then plugged into a PS1-Xbox adapter. Hopefully, there will be a simple commercially available solution for retro controllers on the Xbox soon. The KADE Miniconsole+ will support Xbox classic but it has been delayed: http://kadevice.com/kade-miniconsole/ There is also the Retropad Adapter lite you can buy from Brazil (very expensive with shipping) and then flash that with the Xbox firmware code using the instructions here http://www.brunofreitas.com/node/41 http://shop.brunofreitas.com/ Then, I made a firmware mod for the DIY project "Retroadapter by MOJO" http://denki.world3.net/retro_v2.html that makes it compatible with Xbox classic. The modded firmware can be flashed onto an existing Retroadapter. The project home is here https://github.com/rsn8887/RetroAdapterMod The Mojo Retroadapter is not on sale anymore and has to be built by hand. The latest firmware release is here https://github.com/rsn8887/RetroAdapterMod/releases |

Help
Hi all. This is my first post here. I have successfully installed and have run Winuae x on my old Xbox. This is running well and have got a number of games to run well. My issue is with the control side of things. Most of these games have front end loading screens where these games was cracked many years ago. Some i can scroll each setting and start the game, some i cant.
Been into the control mapping of the software and for the life of me i cannot get it to work or know 100% how. Is there anybody that knows. Tried even to play two player Alien Breed but the one player controller controlls both on screen. Many thanks in advance. |

Each game saves its own control config, have you tried pressing X (instead of A) on a selected game to bring up config screen and remap controls ?
I suggest you head on over to the official WinUAEX forum, Madmab should be able to help you out on this. |
