Keep mirror?

Hello guys

We had brief discussion with Turran about the need for mirror server. It would seem that FTP needs are met with the main server. I'd be interested in knowing what's the public opinion about this, so feel free to check in the poll -- It's anonymous. Just so you know, I don't mind at all running it, but I don't want it to be a fifth wheel kind of thing

A Mirror is always a good thing in terms of data backup. Best example is Bttr. No mirror no files.

Personally I don't use it myself but as Thalion mentioned it's good to have a backup

Plus if the main FTP is slow due to overuse then people can always try the mirror for hopefully better speeds

I have used the mirror in the past, but if it is an issue of cost, effort, or anything else taxing the server's owner, I could make due (it's not life-or-death if the server doesn't work once in a while)

If this is the only mirror, then the answer is KEEP IT! :-)

Actually, i picked "Don't care". Well i don't really .. I only download from main ftp, dunno why,,, I guess i'm just scared i'm gonna loose something if its not synced. Hey, isn't that that why we use main servers? But, the mirrors are always good to have.

As mentioned above, its always a good idea to have a backup/mirror option in case something goes wrong or there is a lot of traffic to or from the main server.

A definite KEEP the mirror from me

Thank you very much for keeping the FTP mirror site alive! Along with the original FTP site, the FTP mirror is an invaluable resource IMHO and I always provide links to both FTP sites for game downloads in HOL entries.

I have never found the main ftp site to be usable - it takes nearly a 30 seconds for pages to respond, which makes browsing tedious. Using the mirror though is instant.

So yes, please keep the mirror.
