Laced mode will flicker, it is not a flicker fixer, but a scan converter.

x4 mode not syncing is down to your display not liking the frequencies and/or resolution that x4 mode requires. Why do you wish to use x4 mode?

You can try DblPAL in via SCART too, but the VGA input in the OSSC is better suited for higher frequencies. Why would you wish to use DblPAL? To have a higher resolution without flicker? Be aware that DblPAL slows down the Amiga quite a bit.

Cheers guys.

As it turns out it was user error. All I simply needed to do was set line mult to 1 (usually I default to x2). OSSC now displays high res laced with no flicker.

Some games hate this and loses sync, just set it to x2 if needed, though most work fine!

Assume x4 gave a better picture in 720-1080p but again, i maybe missunderstanding the OSSC here.

Still all good now

Where can you buy an OSSC? the only place I can see is VGP and it's not in stock there. Has anyone bought one from there or was it somewhere else?

Have you bought from that site before? I was wondering if VAT is included in the price.

I wouldn't trust AliExpress with more sophisticated electronics.

You may think you're ordering an OSSC but you're actually getting an OŠŠÇ, which is a Chinese version with only pass-through wiring and 10 LEDs in different colors

Two years later, I've finally got an OSSC (made in China - and I'd bet almost all of them are made in China nonetheless) from an Amazon seller and it works very well with my Amigas. It needed some fine-tuning (afair, I used the timings from Junker HQ) but afterwards the image is stunning.

Highly recommended for anyone who wants to do proper Amiga gaming on a recent screen. Still have to do a side-by-side comparison with my 1084S though!

That said, I'd love for someone to do a comparison with an Indivision AGA v2

Pixel perfect digital is pixel perfect. The difference to the Indi Aga 2 is, that the OSSC doesn't skip/tear scrollers.

Well that's exactly what I wanted to hear Glad I didn't pull the trigger on an Indi V2 months ago. Added bonus, it works with the rest of my consoles too!

Thanks for all the OSSC info! I still don't understand all the settings in the OT. The following modes:
DblPAL
Multiscan
HighGFX
HD720
don't list a OSSC corresponding mode, e.g. 240p/288p lineX3: Off, so I have no clue for which resolution I have to configure all the settings.

What am I missing, or is the info in the OT incomplete?

Thanks!!

Additional question, saving an OSSC profile, is that only for one resolution or will it save settings for all resolutions?

If you save a profile it will save all currently configured settings for all screen modes

Still hoping for some more explanation on the DblPAL, Multiscan, HighGFX, HD720 settings.

I'll promise, when this info is in, I'll make a nice 0.83 profile in http://pbnl.byethost7.com/ossc/profiles/?i=1 and post the JSON here

OK, so I tried to turn the info of the OT into an OSSC profile, see attacked zipped json, for v0.83 of the firmware, to be imported in the OSSC profiles web site http://pbnl.byethost7.com/ossc/profiles/.. BTW it also includes a Sharp X68000 profile.

Since I'm still not fully understanding this OSSC, for all the Amiga resolutions that each map to 240p/288p I applied the advanced timing tweaker settings to both 240p & 288p. Maybe somebody can tell me which of the two is actually used, 240p or 288p?

The ossc is only a line multiplying device, so if the line-multiplied signal doesn't meet hdmi spec then it won't be displayed. Those oddball video modes like super72 aren't going to display on anything but a specialist monitor, multiplied or not.

After I changed my rgb -> scart cable with my rgb vga -> vga adapter(non buffered) things changed totally!
With use of the rgb Vga -> vga cable into the ossc i get display on my hdmi tv, even the super72 en euro36 and productivy are working.
I do not understand why this is still not working on the rgb scart. I checked my home made scart cable twice and everything seems to be okey.
I have a limited screenmodes with these scart cable that are working, PAL en euro36.
With productivity mode using the scart cable the ossc display 118hz and there is no display on the tv.But sometimes(without any changes in de menu of the ossc) I have a picture which seems like interlace, the ossc display then 59hz.
So very strange.

I am struggling to get a decent Workbench picture on my A600. All help would be highly appreciated

Specifically, I have some ghosting issues and I cannot seem to get my OSSC to produce a clean, bright picture on higher resolutions.

I am probably not configuring my OSSC correctly, but I also have a feeling that my SCART cable is not optimal.

I am running the latest 0.83 firmware. Default settings. Connected to a IIyama E2403WS LCD.

Ghosting:
When I chose – as an example - PAL High resolution (640x256) the picture is ok, but I have a small amount of ghosting on the characters and graphics. It is running in 313p (15.62 khz 49.92 Hz). This does not change if I chose Line 2x, 3x,4x or passthru).

I have tried messing around with other settings, but the ghosting remains. Any suggestions?

As far as I know ghosting can be a cabling issue.

Cabling:
I bought my present cable on Amigastore.eu. This one.

Would a cable like this give a better picture? And is there an optimal Amiga scart cable for OSSC?

Higher resolutions:
If I chose PAL High resolution interlaced the picture starts flickering (it is interlaced ?). The picture looks nice – besides the flickering. Is there way to reduce/eliminate interlace flickering?

I have also tried switching to another monitor drivers to get a higher resolution. But If I chose for instance Multiscan productivity to get a higher resolution the ghosting is worse, and the chequers squares are jig sawed on the test picture. If I chose the new mode, the picture gets very dark and I can not use WB. If I try to change the settings like some of the pictures above I can get a better picture but I get lines

I have also tried experimenting with the HighGFX driver but so far with no success.

Any suggestions for the optimal OSSC-compatible monitor driver and the settings for an A600? I would like to be able to run at least 8 colours because I am running MagicWB.

Thank you in advance!

Did you try the setting from post #0?

It is a little more tricky to get a decent image with a SCART cable compared to using the VGA input since SCART uses composite sync instead of separate H+V sync. It should still be possible to get a pixel-perfect image with SCART though, but I normally use a VGA cable with a RGB-VGA converter.

A good way to check for synchronization is to set the backdrop in WB to the alternating pattern - the one that looks like the attached. If you get vertical lines, your vertical resolution is off and vice versa for horizontal. If the entire screen flickers, you have a phase or noise problem.

Regarding interlace - the OSSC is not designed to provide high quality de-interlacing - it can manage basic bob-deinterlacing but that's about it. Instead you can tell it to pass-through the interlaced signal to the display (rather than process it itself) which lets the display handle the deinterlacing, but then it's left to what you're display can manage. A TV will likely do a better job of de-interlacing than a computer LCD.
