WinUAE: NRG format support

It is expected in the future of WinUAE support for image format NRG of Nero Burning? when to use this ISO format on WinUAE we have to convert it or use it through an external Virtual CD

Does anyone use Nero anymore? I've been using ImgBurn for over a decade now - Nero died for me when they started bloating it out with rippers/audio/video crapware.

I still have an old copy of 'Burning ROM' sitting around here on a CD somewhere though

I'd suggest Daemon's .mdx format as an alternative but to be honest, I rarely use Daemon Tools - .ISOs just work for the most part *shrug*

I would not know, it's certainly one of the best software to burn any format under, with this software you can edit or create ISO with special formats as for example the DK-Karaoke CDs (CD + Graph) for CD32 who now work perfectly on WinUAE CD32-CDTV.

Last software I used to write a CD/DVD was ImgBurn. Nero Burning ROM got shite after the bloat started creeping in. I'd say convert your NRGs to ISO or BIN/CUE and use them that way

It depends on how you use which version you are using, the Nero Burning version 6 for example was very light, then not all ISO (NRG) they can successfully convert, here also it depends on the software used. For example, the ISO images of CDs DK Karaoke, if you convert from NRG-To-ISO become normal audio CDs without graphics, ImgBurn or any other similar software, i do not believe can create ISO or burn this and other special formats.

Nero does suck, it was ancient times when Nero was good (or even the best).

The real question is: does nrg spec exist?

Doesn't inspire much confidence .NRG is proprietary and it looks like the open source tools that do exist have some limitations as a consequence.

I found this kinda neat though:

Only Amiga makes it possible

Nero, good lord, who uses that Neanderthal rubbish, as said, Imgburn is by far the most useful bit of software out there for burning AND its free (beware the attempts to give you adware rubbish tho).

Mind you, I've not burnt a disk in a year and a half.

As for a new format, please, lets keep it ISO friendly..

You are not going to fit any audio tracks in ISO files. Or even more than one data track..

If you still use Nero ... just use NRG2ISO to make those images to work in WinUAE

I use NRG2ISO, as well as other ISO conversion software, but as I said for some ISO "special" the conversion is not 1:1 as in the case CDs DK-Karaoke

Try to use/burn a Multi-Session CD that both contains Linux-68K and the rest Amiga data. I have uploaded some AmigActive CD's as NRG image file's because at that time only Nero Burning Rom could make a proper image file of both. If you had Autorun activated on your PC, the machine would only read the Linux-68K session and that would give you a blue crash screen on Windows XP. So if someone could convert the AmigaActive, feel free to do so.

I think so Toni, all the important programs that handle ISO images import the format NRG, i am attaching someone on scrennshot but I assure you they are many.
