Amiga 500 Keyboard Issue

Is just purchased a supposed working Amiga 500 on Ebay. Three keys did not work and I fixed those with a new membrane and plungers for those keys. There is another strange problem. 5 of the keypad keys work in the shell in workbench but do not work in Amiga dos and games such as the Pawn. The key pad keys are + ( ) / and * The rest of the keys on the keyboard and keypad work in both. I was thinking the CIA. Any other possibilities? I am not sure that those keys are really needed often as the machine seems to work fine otherwise.

It's a keymap issue. The ROM keymap doesn't have support for those keys, as it was made in the A1000 era and wasn't changed until 2.x because some software expects the ROM keymap to stay the same.

To enable the keys, you would need to load a keymap that supports them. Check s/startup-sequence on your workbench 1.3 disk.
