Override config

This might already be possible, if so apologies..


Is it possible to have an "override" config. That is, if activated any options set in the config override what is set in the currently loaded config, and if the option is not in the override config then the config isn't touched.

Yes, so let's say I have the following GFX/Display config settings in 300 configs (I have cut it down)

gfx_display=0
gfx_framerate=1
gfx_width=720
gfx_height=568
gfx_width_windowed=720
gfx_height_windowed=568
gfx_width_fullscreen=640
gfx_height_fullscreen=480
gfx_refreshrate=0
gfx_vsync=false
gfx_lores=false
gfx_linemode=double
gfx_fullscreen_amiga=true
gfx_fullscreen_picasso=false
gfx_center_horizontal=smart
gfx_center_vertical=smart
gfx_colour_mode=32bit
gfx_blacker_than_black=false
gfx_api=direct3d
gfx_filter_scanlines=50
gfx_filter_autoscale=none

Now if I wanted to open these in a window instead of full screen, I have two options


Search through all the configs and change the

fx_fullscreen_amiga=true

to false in all configs, or load the config, then manually change to window mode, this negates the double click to start feature of winuae.


With an override config, I can tick a box (that stays ticked) and then it overrides. The override could contain just

fx_fullscreen_amiga=false

Funnily enough, I was thinking about such a feature just recently. I always want my XBox 360 controller to be used as a CD32 pad, no matter what the current config says. Ditto for display settings. An "overide host config" would be ideal.

Previously, to get around this, I've used the "Find in files..." feature of Notepad++ to replace all the desired config values at once in all of my config files. I guess both methods amount to the same thing.

You can use the following tool (or any that is able to batch search/replace) .

Thanks, I can do this in notepad++ also, but I think a solution where you don't edit configs would be good

config_all_path=<config file> or config_host_path/config_hardware_path=<config file> (only loads host or hardware specific lines) probably does what you want.

Same as config panel "Additional Information" Set -> Link does.
