PowerWindows 2.5c

hi,

i've been looking for PowerWindows 2.5c. can only find 2.0 but found on an old bbs list:

POWI.DMS 432848 92-09-13 PowerWindows v2.5 komplett fixar
POWWIN.LHA 71835 91-08-29 [6] PowerWindows 2.5c!!! fixar interfacet

anyone got them?

Edit: from lsd docs disk #15
PowerWindows 2.5 is the interactive, interface programming aid for the Amiga
computer. It provides you, the programmer, the ability to quickly create and
edit screens, windows, menus, and gadgets for your programs, with none of
the fuss or tedium of coding the necessary structures yourself. All you have
to do is move a mouse and push a button to...

thanks in advance,

POWWIN.LHA is in The Zone. I don't seem to have the other file. Which BBS archive is that supposed to be from?

Edit: Ach, I lie, it's POWWIN.LZH, but it's about the right size and judging by the name, chances are it's the right program at least.

np, it seems to be fine. since the 2.0 disk only has a main binary, nothing else. and the 2.5c just starts like the 2.0 does. very nice
its seems to be some sort of a predecessor of the Visual line from microsoft.
back in times i wished i had this one. never managed to get a screen with some windows opened using seka and Co.

thnx again,

Ok, I have replaced the old executable with version 2.5c. Uploaded a brand new ADF to the zone for anyone who wants it.

No problem. I'm wondering does anyone have any documentation for this software, maybe as a PDF file or something. I am really struggling with it. I am trying to generate assembler source code from an image but where do you load the image? Anyone know how to use this?

there is a manual on LSD Docs Disk #15. text document, i attach it here.

i can see an option to load a "gadget image"
menu gadget -> "work on gadget images"
choose a gadget then you have another menu
"load gadget selected imagery"
here you can select a iff-ilnm image.

you should try piccon for converting images to assembler/c-cource.
once converted you can "incbin" the generated code in your power-windows source, i think

there is another more modern gui builder package, the author made free some time ago. but i forgot its title.
anyone knows what i'm talking about?

just start the 2.5 program. on the disk ( 2.0 ) were only 2 example files (next to standard workbench-disk files),
which now are also on the 2.5 version. no installer or anything.

I don't think I've heard of this program before but it is mentioned over on Amibay http://www.amibay.com/showthread.php...ight=kickstart and is one of the things being mentioned for adding to a modified kickstart.rom.

I just recently built the mfilos 3.9 kickstart.rom for my 1200 and could have added more stuff in the extended.rom if I knew what there was available, I will have a play around using WINUAE to try a KS.ROM and see what mischief I can get up to I have also downloaded PowerWindowsNG 1.3 from Aminet http://aminet.net/package/util/misc/PowerWindowsNG as that is what was mentioned over at Amibay.

There seems to be a lot of things I didn't realise existed to tidy up our Amigas

while they have the same name, they are different. this thread is about a gui builder tool.
PowerWindowsNG is the workbench enhancement - they talk about on amibay.
in case you want add PowerWindowsNG to you custom rom file, you have to use the modified version
by doobrey - PowerWindows BK Module (19/04/06).

hmm, videofx didn't report back - so it was about time, someone brings this thread back to life

Thanks for the clarification emufan and for the link to where the PowerWindows Module can be found. I wouldn't care but I had looked there for Remus 1.0 (rc36 - update 04/08/2011) as mfilos's link wont work for me and still have not found that version. At the time of looking I didn't know about PowerWindows.

I got the mfilos KS-3.9. ROM working OK apart from the insert disk 3.9 screen rarely appears on the Amiga 1200 I put the ROMs into although it works fine in WINUAE. I'll get around to building an updated ROM and see what the PowerWindows BK Module can do which appears to be along the lines of being able to move open drawers etc out of the way just like Windows does

no idea about the "insert disk 3.9" problem. maybe it will disapear in your next rom build
