From memory it tries to open a 320x200 8bit screen mode by default but I can't be sure. I think it is meant to default to the first of your available 8bit mode if that fails. I know that it creates a mode file with the current mode number in it after it successfully runs so it you really get stuck then just experiment with different modes (starting from zero). Are you trying to run in on a real Amiga or on UAE/Vampire? |

@Novacoder:
Random question, but is there any stereoscopic image display code hanging around in Amiquake? Great port BTW! |

Good effort! However, the Vampire has a better version of Intels MMX instructions (AMMX) on its 68080 core. Maybe that would help with the speed? Im sure the Apollo team will have some sort of streaming code for this sort of thing that they would be happy to help with. |

For those that are still looking for the non-FPU AGA build of AmiQuake, I'll upload it again here because it seems to have got lost. This will only be of any use for an overclocked 060 (TF1260 etc) and even then, will be slow because Quake really needs an FPU. Last edited by NovaCoder; 11 November 2021 at 01:17. |

Professional slacker!

I regret to inform it's a slideshow even at 75mhz - thanks for trying but I think it really does need that FPU!

It should work okay, I tested under winuae. Do you have access to winuae to try it with your wb image?
If it works fine in winuae then it's probably having trouble with your P96 setup, I think it needs a 320*200 8 bit RTG mode available, do you have one in the screen mode prefs? |

Yes, there is one. But not to worry, got the aminet one to work now. Had to delete all lower resolutions than 320 from the settings because it used a 256x256 one for some reason.

I think thats a bit dismissive of you - the various Vampire cards have a pretty big user base mainly due the ability to have a fast 68k machinen with RTG without breaking the bank or having to towerise the Amiga. Please do not consider this as me being ungreatful just the opposite infact as a regular user of vamped amigas and your amazing ports of classic pc titles I would love to see what could be done if you embrassed the features of the Apollo core machines!

i have nothing but admiration for Novacoder his skills are no less than lengendery - i simply mean to say the apollo/vampire user base is vast and its a shame he wont consider that.

go check their discord if you dont believe me - it has been so much more active since the Firebird release! not to mention many Amiga owners that are Vampire owners usually have more than one Vampire! I myself enjoy many different Amiga configurations, I have a pistorm in a 500, Firebird in a 500+, a vampire in a 1200 and TF1260 in a 1200... I enjoy all these machines in their many forms so basically I dont see why there is so much negativity about the Apollo Core machines? Its all Amiga at the end of the day!

Obviously, its NovaCoders choice what he does in his own time.
However, I would say at this stage, an 060 is becoming more 'niche' than an 080/AMMX powered machine. |
