Maybe this is not an WHDLoad problem indeed?

As I never owned an AGA machine I can't give much personal info about it.

Good point , i think Ross can comment on this One thing is for sure. Zool is no Kid Chaos

My new amiga 600 PSU will come soon, then i can test the OCS version on an ocs/ecs machiene

Yes, Zool AGA does not make good use of new features.

See my previous post:
http://eab.abime.net/showpost.php?p=...6&postcount=44

The coder(s) have even been forced to remove video sprites overlay and make a screen split to gain some speed..

It could be much better.

Bye

i was excited to test Zool OCS. ( Got my original Hi-Pot Commodore PSU for my A600 FuriaV2,finally )

...and Man, RossĀ“s version is smoooooooth, like i have never seen Zool.

Fantastic Work.

This is especially cool, because there was a Zool Amiga 600 Bundle and now to see the game smooth for the first time on my 600 is really nice.

Before it was running like crap. Now its even smoother than the sonic 1 on the Mega Drive

Ross, you did it again

...not sure but can't you just use the cheatcode:

Quote:
When the screen says push fire to start, type “GOLDFISH”. Now use the following keys:

‘F2-F5’____________Advance to the corresponding level.
‘1’_________________________Will make zool invincible.
‘2’_______________________Advance to the next section.
‘3’________________________________Skip to next level.
‘4’_____________________________Removes invincibility.

Try any of the following for various messages: “ADE”, “TONY”, “GEORGE”, “GREGGS”, “PAT”, “SIZ”, “SYD”, “CASSON”, “SHORTIE”, “MICK”, “PAUL”, “RITCHIE”, “ASH”, “MARK”, “BERNI”, AND “HILEY”.

For a bonus zone on level 2-2, play these notes on the first piano; Brown, Yellow, Red, Orange, Green.

I appreciate the help, but that (as far as I can tell) doesn't allow infinite lives, just invincibility, which isn't the same thing. Some cracked adfs of the game support this feature.

Ross, can either of these WHDload installs be submitted to WHDload to succeed the previous install by JOTD? Or is there still work to be done?

I notice that the current install by JOTD supports multiple releases/versions of the Zool disks. Is that easily adapted to yours?

The WHDload page has Zool down as ECS (I'm sure it should have been OCS/ECS?) but does the game really detect and use any ECS features?

I wantent to say something about the question "is there still work to be done?"

He did such an amazing job with it, that the endresult is even better than the original ever was. He fixed some serious stuff there. Zool is now smooth like sonic 1. All thanks to ross.

So, the Whdload situation.....
He made a clean and dirty version slave . The dirty version works better but that has not wepl's 100% "approval" as far as i know

Anyway, he is super busy with his real job; but he looks into EAB almost every day to see whats going on.

Greetings

would be nice if the work done (didn't follow everything here) was merged in the official slave. Specially if it's a trainer (nice) or extra fixes (super nice)

Bert won't accept a new slave discarding all the history of the previous ones. Not to mention various versions support, etc.

History is preserved in readme files but what I can see from WHDLoad activity log slave total rewrites are allowed, at least for authors no longer active.

you can rewrite a slave fully regardless of the author being active or not (it's better to ensure that the author is OK with that, though), but what's the most important is to preserve the supported versions & the features.

Full rewrite doesn't mean that the old slave source isn't used. That's why even with a full rewrite, the new slave author "coauthors", retaining credit for previous slave writers (except for some very rare cases)

I tried the OCS beta today. Works great! Very smooth and fast. I'm using an A600 with an overclocked ACA620. Love it!

It did not save my high score though. Should it?

Hi DopPie, glad that works ok
For the high score I don't remember if I've implemented..
Sure you clean exit from the game?

I figured out what to patch for infinite lives, maybe it will help ross with the slave.

The address to patch after Zool AGA is running under WHDLoad is $D0FE, look for #$53B9 0002 23D4 6A00, patch with #$4E71 4E71 4E71 6000.

In effect replacing this machine code...

Code:
SUBQ.L #1,($223D4)
BPL.W $6CCA
...with this...

Code:
NOP
NOP
NOP
BRA.W $6CCA
