Help installing WB 1.3 on HD! (WinUAE)

Help installing WB 1.3 on HD!

Hello,

I don't have any problem creating an HD on WinUAE and installing OS 2.0/3.0/3.1.

The problem is that I need to install WB 1.3 on HD for some software and I only have WB 1.3 and Extras Disk.
I do not have any install disk.

What can I do?

Do I need maybe A590 install disk?

Please let me know and thank you in advance

Daniele

Hi Daniele,

there is no install disk for Workbench 1.3. Just copy the content of the Workbench disk to your HD. That should do the trick

'copy df0:#? to dh0: all clone' will do the trick. But you might want to edit the startup-sequence afterwards

'addbuffers df0:' is a line wich springs to mind as being unneeded in a hd installed wb1.3 system

I take it you mean a HD directory in WinUAE?.

What i`ve always wondered is that if you just copy the files over what filesystem would the dir use?.

Would it be better to create an HDF and format it with OFS somehow?

@Arnie

The HD needs formatting prior to being able to copy files to it,

The Filesystem used by Format will be the one the system was booted with

Yes you are correct only i was talking about a HD dir in WinUAE, you cant format/initialize that from floppy, not enough memory, unless you can specify the size of the dir somehow . Anyone know if it`s possible .

Use Paul's guide. RIP Paul and thanks for an amazing wiki

http://guide.abime.net/wb1.3/chap1m1.htm

Before I forget, when you type in the shell commands, be sure to use quotes. I made the mistake before of not using them and a helpful soul guided me in the right direction
