ScummVM and AGA Amiga

Hi guys,
i have a 060/50 AGA machine with 64mb fast ram and woud like to try some games on ScummVM. My expectations are not too high, but can anyone tell me what games will run on that configuration (so i will know which games to hunt down and get for my Miggy)?
Thanks.

i'm using scummaga 0.38.2 with systempatch 2.96 (instead of blazewcp and its compatibility issues with os3.0 - it makes real difference in terms of speed) and i succesfully completed day of the tentacle (english cd version to avoid issue with protection codes). sam'n'max also seems to work fine...

The fastest ScummVM version on the Amiga by far is WarpSCUMM, but unfortunately it havent been updated in quite some time. You can play a bunch of games with it though.

I thought that WarpOS was for PPC only?

Have to try the Day of the tentacle later!

If what I am reading on the WarpSCUMM website is true (and I cannot test it) the speed is due to it's use of WarpSDL. Doesnt that mean that you should be able to (with some tweaks etc.) compile a newer version of SCUMM with this version of SDL?

@alexh:
Unfortunately, he haven't released a devkit for warpsdl.library .

The performance of the regular SDL on the Amiga is really bad, so it doesn't surprise me that a better version would make a big difference.

What's this about using HWSURFACES and DOUBLE BUFFERING with regular Amiga SDL?

in terms of pure speed for AGA 68k machines and day of the tentacle/sam'n'max, no version beats scummaga 0.38.2...trust me !! i'm able to enjoy these 2 games with my poor 1200 8mb fast at really reasonable speed!!

by the way, for us low configuration classic amiga users, wouldn't it be possible to upgrade scummaga 0.38.2 to make it play midi music without degrading too much game speed...also i found some utils converting midi files to modules thanks to a sample library...couldn't we consider converting midi music files from these games to amiga modules to make them play with very low CPU consumption ?

from the readme file it says you need cybergraphics...so shouldn't run on AGA amigas right ?

If that were true why does it say "Double buffering can now be forced on AGA screens"?

sounds nice. i would like to try that one. could you give me a link or upload it to the zone please?
i hope it is as compatible as my standard scummvm 0.71 (which runs pretty fine at 030/50)... with scummvm 0.71 i can play nearly all scumm-compatible games and that rocks!

that would be awesome!!! these lucasarts-games are just not as funny without music as they would be with music...
i thought about that problem too. the way i see it it should be possible to convert the midi-tunes to something more useful for an lowspec amiga... damn i'm no programmer.
an general update of scummaga would be also nice.

the link is ...http://www.mountmonkey.com/downloads_scummvm.html

you will also need blazewcp for os3.1+ from aminet or systempatch 2.96 for 0s3.0 from this link : http://web.tiscali.it/ziosante/downl...emPatch296.lha

thx,
i'll give this one a try. i allredy have blazewcp as the standard scummvm also needs it. besides i don't like systempatch as it was rather unstable on my system...

edit:
hmm the readme says that it doesn't support all the games which scummvm 0.71 supports.
but if it's a little faster it's worth trying!

so what about speed comparison ??

also I checked out and i don't think scummvm 0.7.1 takes advantage of blazewcp as it is not part of the requirements and as it makes no difference on my computer with or without it...right ? maybe i missed something in the configuration to get full advantage of it ? let me know..

I noticed this version (0.7.1) was unstable as it crashed a few times on my computer while running DOTT...what about you ? is it due to my config ?

Also about warpscumm, yes it supports AGA but you need to have at least a 040 board...do you know why ?

TO CONCLUDE, on a vanilla 1200...SCUMMVM_AGA 0.38.2 STILL RULES !!!
