Unhappy No Fodder for Mick!

Found cannon fodder the other day in an old box with my A500, took it downstairs to have a play on my A1200, The game loads fine, plays the fantastic theme music, does the little bit where the men walk round the hill etc etc.

The first level loads up and the click mouse to start message appears, so i click the mouse and then nothing!
It just goes to a black screen!

Any ideas????

I got a non-aga fixed version which works fine on my A1200. Ok so maybe it needed TUDE to make a softkick to 1.3 kickstart, can't remember, but it would play fine.

Cannon Fodder is a bit tricky to get it to run on a A1200 AGA machine, most times it loads fine for me disabling the CPU Caches in Early Startup Menu

I can't remember what I do. But I haven't had 1 single problem with my version. Can't remember which crack. Only thing I remember about it is the disk changing scheme where because of the crack every time the screen flashes blue you'll need to put disk 1 in any drive.

Anyway. I'd suggest you get TUDE and a 1.3 rom on the same disk (Relokick kickstart rom will work fine and take up less space if you don't have a harddisk then this might be good).

That program will allow you to degrade your Amiga regarding kick rom, fake fast mem, reducing mem, graphics chipset and other stuff. Never got any of the other degraders to reboot the Amiga in Kickstart 1.3 mode.

Question

Got the original Virgin boxed game myself. Checked the sticker & it claims to run on A500/500+/A1500/A2000/A600/A1200.

Haven't tested it on an A1200, but runs okay on an A600.

7zark: original games tend to be more compatible than cracked vesions.

Mick,

if you're a REAL Amiga user, always visit GAGE first!
This site isn't made for emulator guys, but rather for REAL Amigans who will find lots of useful information about the compatibility of old games to newer hardware (e. g. an old game from 1987 on an A1200 with a Blizzard turbo card).

About Cannon Fodder, they say this game works fine from disk on an A1200! Unfortunately, I reckon that this only applies to the ORIGINAL disks.

@ Akira. I knew that, but I thought it was an original boxed version that was being referred to.
Think you've found a new best friend though-someone who'd rather have the actual system's than an emulator!!
