Banjo Guy Ollie - New banjo covers of classic Amiga games!!!

just finished this cover of shoot or die and it's been re-shared by Chris Huelsbeck
all accoustic instruments. I just use an e-bow on the banjo for the intro

working on a few more amiga covers at the moment, maybe I could use this thread to post them when they're done instead of posting a different message everytime

WOW!! Amazing, what can I say.

This takes me back to when I was 9 years old and my best friend got this game for his Amiga.
For me this game was/is a milestone in gaming!
I remember I used to listen to this tune again and again, I even recorded it on tape to listen to it on family vacations

Anaway I love this song and it amaze me how well you did this!
Every detail it seems you got right.

Thank you, for making my day

What kind of banjo is that? I count five strings but they all seem to be long strings and the 5th string is the thickest string. Seeing that you are Irish I would have expected a four-string banjo.

I'm french actually but I've been living in Ireland for the past 20 years
The banjo is a custom tenor banjo I got made for the purpose of these covers. It's got an extra 5th string tunned in low C which allows me to do some of the lower notes

I have a link in the video description to this vid :

I had already listened to all your recordings and saw the description in one of the other videos. When I had written the above comment, I was still listening to the Turrican cover. I like all your recordings, really well done, despite the fact that you play the wrong kind of banjo

At least it's no guitjo...

BTW, does playing tenor banjo make it easier to also play mandolin? IIRC the tuning is similar or even the same and you also use the plectrum. Or is it more confusing to keep the two apart (like speaking both Italian and Spanish)?

Very, very good as per usual

Do you think sometime down the line when you have free time you could do the Blood Money in-game music; love that

new cover straight from my amiga days. Like Dune, I played it first on my amiga and a few years later on my dad's pc but my first memories of the tune were on the amiga. It didn't quite sound like that though but memorie and nostalgia is a funy thing
