"Work in Progress" WHDloads

A quick look at the WIP on the WHDLoad site and a bit of totalling gives the following as WIP titles:

Harry 1
Wepl 3
Girv 3
DJ Mike 5
Asman 9
JOTD 12
Psygore 14
Cfou! 21
Galahad 24
Codetapper 29

Can the last 3 for example really be "working" on 20+ titles at one time? I know they are prolific but some have not moved in status in many months?

Any chance of some updates guys?

Hmm..

Good post! I've never really thought about adding them up before...

Does seem like quite a few patches to be writing at once.

Some are sitting very, very close to the 100% mark and have been for a while now, hopefully we'll have a big end of spring clean and get that list down to only a couple each

Oh and can someone PLEASE get a full copy of Putty Squad..

Its a difficult subject cos I don't want WHDLoad authors thinking I am ungrateful for their work but it seems we could have a fair few finished with one more push. Also strikes me that having 20+ "projects" means that someone else (is there someone) who might want to do a title might get put off?

I'd like to see Codetapper, Girv and maybe Galahad's views?

My WIP list is up to date

I've been out of touch with the scene for a couple of months and haven't done any work on WHD projects since about January. Real life intrudes again

Shuttle will probably never be finished, I really just can't be bothered with it. If anyone wants the current sources PM me, you're welcome to them.

The others will be finished in due course. Be patient little one.

Girv, 'twas not a dig. Three as WIP seems more than reasonable. I am patient. I can wait. No particular title I am griping about!

Well, to be exact, I've not 13 installs in WIP, but 12 and Codetaper 30

I've done recently some intalls/updates which are not in WIP list 'cause they were fast enough to finish.

The next will be StarTrek 25th and Wing Commander...to be continued

What can I say, I get side-tracked easily!

A typical game for me is Man Utd Europe. What usually happens is I get the install almost completely working, then find something nasty that prevents it being finished. In Man Utd's case, the load/save game code is a nightmare. I don't like to release buggy installs (like some others I won't name!) so leave it for a while - hoping the old "a fresh look solves problems" philosophy.

It's the same case with the game Lollypop - beautiful looking, patched 95% of it very quickly, but in some locations on some levels, access faults occur which are a pig to try and eliminate. And I do not like getting bug reports to say my stuff crashes!

Then I get a request to have a look at something else, or have to work on the website I'm doing, or for the last 2 weeks, I get a game like GTA: San Andreas and it's more fun to play that than patch in my spare time! So the installs get delayed...

All I can say is I do intend to finish them but I need more hours in the day...

No worries Methanoid, I didn't mean to sound grumpy (it comes naturally to me ) I just meant to provide the info that was asked for...

I'd like just to say thanks for all the people actually using their time up in patching games for WHDLoad. It's an excellent project, and I'm sure that all of the Amiga community (DEFINATELY including me) appreciate your time spent, yeah even though *95% of SuperCars 2* - some slaves aren't completed yet.

Thankj00!

Understood from my side...
I'm not getting irritated about your high number of unfinished installs at all.-

You guys should not forget the fact that in rare (?) cases, a WHD author might only get a 100% version of the install with an alternative copy of the game! Sometimes the matter might only be fully understood with TWO copies, e. g. one with protection (EU), the other without (US); I think a good comparison is a jigsaw puzzle with just ONE part of it missing to complete it. Sometimes it happens that the game is *extremely* rare, and the missing part (e. g. the rare US version) doesn't show up until 2 years from now, on ebay...and then you still need the acknowledgement of the user who bid for it, persuade him to make a warp of his copy, and what if he has no Amiga anymore? Then you will have to wait for the second version again, months, years ...

What the say team is the best, and Codetapper is only, maybe JOTD is only two WHDLoaders, who work and with cracked version.

But Spirit of Excalibur is reported to work fine from HD even on 040 processor.

@Part of my subscription review, prune and revival process@

www.whdload.de

Havent been there for aeons but still see we're getting WHDLoad releases (and still a huge WIP list as per my 1st post at top). Great to see but with KG's WHDLoad project stalled... is there anything taking up the slack?

Bamiga2002 btw, Tetris won't be added as it's a cracktro and they're already preinstalled when downloaded from whdload.de.
