GODS game classic gets an overhauled 1080p Intro remake

Quote:
Would you like to see a HD intro remake of the classic Amiga game 'GODS', in glorious 1080p detail? Yes well good, because here it is! The original 1991 Bitmap Brothers intro in HD detail, using 2D digital art by FRULILI, music remix by DAXX - daxx step 2 dub and game play clips by AL82.

Yea i don't like it either, its a weird mixture of the original pixel art with photo real art and particle and lighting effects. Don't care for the remix either, overly long intro and doesn't keep the signature beat through the tune..

...Why the dubstep music? Urgh.

The rest of the intro is nice enough except for all that time spent at looking at floating letters and the cuts from the game... They weren't in the original intro!

I think it's hard to improve original Gods music. And blade is not the best grip.

Because the original music samples would require a license?

The original studio version of Nation XII - Into the Wonderful was released in 2005, I am surprised they didn't either ask John Foxx if they could use it (or just use it anyway!)

I have to agree, I don't like it. Didn't like the Another World 1080p remake either tbh

Look at the original intro again and see how the intro matches the music perfectly. Not only that isn't in the remake, but the font & graphics look really cheap. The added animated 3D logo bit is pathetic. I like DaXX' remixes, but as a replacement for the original music it just doesn't match. Overall it's a really bad and unnecessary re-creation and just putting a '1080p' sticker on it doesn't make it any better.

Sorry, just my 2c

I like a lot of daxx's music, but I REALLY do NOT like the music for this. Problem is its iconic, its iconic with SPECIFIC voice samples, and I really don't like the heavily accented "into the wonderfull", and especially don't like the repetition of "Gods!" screaming out all the time.

I like the intro style, but like others have said, simple as the Amiga one is, its had some thought put into it, words popping up when certain parts of the module play and stuff like that.

I like the story setting for this new intro, and the scrolling cityscape, but really the music just ruins it, and i'm a fan of daxx's work in general.

You sure you've used the full 16.8million colours in that?

I do like it, but I like the original better. Graphics are basically great, but they lack the feeling. As example, look at that main character holding the axe. In new version he is simply holding an axe, and looks like never used it before, the old version looks like that head of that axe is just moment away from coming through my monitor.

Similarly the guy all in all looks like replacement actor who doesnt really do any battling. hes just been put the helmets and stuff on, while the original looks like he was born with them.

This same lack of feeling comes out of music. While some parts of the music i like more in new one, due them simply being sound technically better, you take for example that "into" "the wonderful" and new version is simply missing the feeling. New version feels like someone is just saying that, trying to make is sound cool and like the original. Original version feels like someone is actually saying something with a feel.

But I did like watching that new version, and i think it have been very well done, although it is missing the feeling.

A couple of folks show their respect for an older title mostly forgotten by investing a large pile of time and effort into a tribute. I love it.

There was less nipples in the A500 version. I wonder if that's intentional.
