So sad to read this, I had hoped to reconnect with Paul soon, now I never will. We talked a lot while working on FF, a teacher, a leader, a man who lived for others and always positive, he will be missed.

If there is anything I want to take from this, it is not that life is hard or unjust but rather that Paul's efforts and dedication on this project are a great example of what grit can produce.
Although he was by no means a professional he clearly was determined to learn as much as he could to produce this port and was both aware and not scared by the magnitude of the task. Watching from the sides I was sometimes a bit jealous (*) that an amateur would progress so steadily (even if slowly) towards a very honest reproduction of the mechanisms of the original game while on the other hand I was only able to flap my mouth on the EAB instead of actually moving my ass and doing some real coding. If anything, his death reminds me that I should be more active and persistent on my own projects if I do not want to have regrets later. Life is unpredictable and there is no time to be wasted. So, thank you for your example Paul! Love and kittens wherever you are. (*) for a few microseconds only |

I was simply amazed at how one guy managed to pull this off considering what the professionals (Creative materials) did with it!
I was really looking forward to seeing the ECS version. Unfortunately all the links to the files including AGA are broken. Are they in the Zone? |

I think I might have that version anyway. Is it the one where it stops after beating Sodom. And I think you get the card bonus stage in there too.
Do you know where I can get the ECS (with music) version? Cheers |

Would it be possible for anybody else to pick this up? Would be a real shame for all his effort to go to waste, and would be a great legacy for him in the Amiga scene that he was clearly dedicated to.

Does anyone have the ECS version of the Final Fight remake or is it lost forever? All links are closed and the account is suspended.

I didnt see this latest news and R.I.P dude - Very sad this was one of the best Demos to appear in ages and I really like the scrolling sprites background
I can be quite awkward about Amiga subjects but this guy just appealed to me and I just cant belive it. Please let us get all his stuff on to the EAB file server ASAP and learn from any source that exists. R.I.P |

Only just seen this, gobsmacked.
He contributed music toward WTSS, speechless, just thankful some of his work is immortalized in some way. Starquake conversion will be dedicated to him, such a sad loss |

I'm relatively new here but I've been reading this thread on and off for the last few days and now reached what is a very sad end and it's a real shame. Final Fight on the Amiga was the first home version of the game I ever owned and although I had my complaints about the gameplay it was technically a very polished port that was still very playable.
I've just started to learn coding on the Amiga with a goal of making my own scrolling beat 'em up in about a million years time and it was really nice to read about a guy who had so much passion for a similar project and this game in general which as a fighting game fan, is one of my favourites. I'd love to take up the reigns where Leathered left off but unfortunately I don't know a bob's arse from a copper's elbow at this stage so I hope it's seen to fruition in one form or another by other members. 39 is just a year older than me and too early for anyone to go but if anything it's inspired me to power on and set some goals and for that some thanks is certainly due. |
