Lots of neat games released in 1989! There's a good list on Lemon under advanced search.
1. Hole in One 2. Operation Thunderbolt 3. Sword of Sodan 4. Dragon Ninja 5. Silkworm |

1. Rock'n'Roll (time trials of selected suitable levels would be my first choice, although simply playing for score would also work if people prefer)
2. Batman the Movie 3. Datastorm 4. Xenon II (only if autofire is allowed, otherwise I'll change my vote to Pipe Mania) 5. Continental Circus |

If Xenon 2 has an auto fire in the shop, then we cant use it. I know, without auto its really difficult to play and some say no fun.

This came up last time we played it. There was a lot of dis-satisfaction at the no-autofire rule. As I remember, what was said at the time was that if the majority of people who had voted for it had asked to waive that rule before the rould started, then it could be waived. As I recall, autofire is a collectable, but only has a very short term effect and is mostly useless anyway. |

Oh, if the mods do not set the rules in stone, we can have stick autofire in Xenon 2. An exception has been made for Beast 2, and an exception can be made here. I dont know anyone who agreed to the "No autofire when it is in the game"-rule as it was voted who still plays here. I will not vote for it when there is no stick autofire.
BTW: Also Wings of Death is affected by the rule, you can collect autofire there. |

Wings of Death is much easier with the Auto collected, and holding on to it is a skill which is rewarded with progress. Playing it with auto always on means its a no brainer shooter. Same with Deluxe Galaga, where timing shots is the skill for success. I spoke to Mike about this, and we agree that as Xenon 2 is a boring game to play without auto, so it will be allowed if it comes up.
Last day to vote, we'll find out the results tomorrow. |

Round 6 voting: **Battle Squadron 18** Hole in One 16** Xenon 2 12* Wings of Death 10 Rock 'n Roll 9* Batman 8 Test Drive II 7* Wonderboy in Monsterland 6* Indy 3 Action 6 Intact 6 Baby Bug 5* Galaxy 89 5* Jack Nicklaus 18 Holes 5* Continental Circus 5 Double Dragon II 4 Fiendish Freddy's BToF 4 Operation Thunderbolt 4 R-Type 4 Skweek 4 Spherical 4 Switchblade 4 Datastorm 3 Dogs of War 3 Stunt Car Racer 3 Sword of Sodan 3 Dragon Ninja 2 Targhan 2 Beach Volley 1 Silkworm 1 Strider 1 I dont think it has an auto pickup in the game, so auto is allowed. I know Graham was always against remapping controller options to extra buttons, as it gives an advantage over those playing with a single button controller. But if a game supports two button controllers then its up to the player to use that option or not. With Battle Squadron, it gives the option to use mouse control, which uses two buttons, and also remaps itself to multi-button controllers. There is also the joystick and keyboard combo, or rotating in a circle, to use the smart bombs. |
