Steal one game from SNES and one from Megadrive

...and take it on Amiga, maybe AGA

just one game from both consoles
what you would have liked to see on Amiga?

i think my choice could be Super Metroid from the SNES, and Phantasy Star IV or Story of Thor from the Megadrive

I was thinking Mario All Stars (is that one game?) Or Super Castlevania for the SNES and then I remembered The Legend Of Zelda: A Link To The Past exists, so naturally it'd have to be that.

For the MegaDrive, maybe Contra: Hard Corps or Castlevania: Bloodlines.

I would say Donkey Kong Country 3 for SNES as unfortunately we never really got a platformer that pushed the limits of AGA, at least not yet. For Mega Drive I'd say Thunder Force IV but if Boss Machine turns out as amazing as it looks then we should leapfrog that.

That's weird. You seems to appreciate a game only by its technical specification.
TFIV would be great on Amiga even if Boss Machine turns out to be amazing.

It's true that I do love games for how they push the machines but not just that.
I kind of took the thread question in the perspective of what the Amiga game library is missing. So for me while Thunder Force IV is a fun game that would be awesome to see on our platform I think the Amiga has lots of great shmups but nothing really in that style where you scroll both horizontally and quite a bit vertically so Boss Machine should fill in that gap.

IMHO the biggest void in the Amiga library is japanese style RPG. There is quite some gem in the console World not particularly technically impressive that would enhance greatly the Amiga library.
Someone was porting Ys 1&2 on the Amiga I don't know if the project is still going on but that was a great idea.

"Only one from each" rule makes it pretty hard to be original. So, yep, I guess it'd have to be Zelda + Castlevania (MD) - form the Nineties kid POV.

But my jaded current-self would probably pick SFII from SNES and Outrun from MD just so we could put these perennial threads about them to rest

The recent Castlevania AGA is a more than decent version for the Amiga. Much better than the original one.
I have mixed feelings about the Megadrive version. For me, the palette choice and the main character are a bit odd. It is a good Castlevania but I would'nt pick this one for the Amiga, especially now that we have a good conversion.

Well, that was from the "Nineties perspective", but admittedly I missed that AGA version, will give it a whirl right now (it seems to have been updated a few days ago btw).

If not Castlevania then probably Contra or one of Treasure games would do (Dynamite Headdy? since it's the most user friendly, I think)

With hindsight being 20/20, today I'd say
  • Snes - Chrono trigger
  • Megadrive - Bare knuckle 2 / Streets of rage 2

But back in the day I'd give my right arm for Street fighter 2, any of the console versions were superb... and maybe Zelda link to the past.

my choice is indeed related
i was thinking to get a jrpg from the snes and a metroidvania from md, but at the end i have inverted the genre choice, cause yes i also dont like Bloodlines too much on Megadrive
