fmsdisk is just a device to mount an ADF image, and it can't, for example:
- read and display information about the ADF file
- browse content by blocks or files (without mounting the image)
- write images to floppy disks
- create image from floppy disks
- there is no intuitive GUI in fms

In addition, fms has not been developed for over 20 years

BTW - I'm currently working on adding support for ADZ (done), DMS (in progress) and HFE files (to do). FMS doesn't do that too.

PS. I recommend the article about GoADF on the Epsilon blog

Ok, could the missing features eventually be supported on 68000/68010? (kick 2.04 would be the minimum for reqtools 38).

What missing features do you mean?

GoADF requirements are:
Any Amiga 68k with
CPU 68000 (68020+ is needed to use virtual drives)
1Mb RAM
Kickstart 2.0+
HDD
reqtools.library v38+

I would like the virtual drive feature for ~a600/ide spec machines and similar such as my a500/scsi/2v05 and a2000HD/scsi/2v04.

I also registered this masterpiece of software.
It’s really a good alternative to ADF-Blitzer and the FMS-Device.

But I‘ve got one question. Why can‘t there be a virtual device support on 68k processor too.
I‘ve got an ACA500Plus plugged into my A500 working flawless with 21MHz. My system (ClassicWorkbench 68k) and data is stored on a 16GB CF-Card.

What is the matter, that virtual devices can‘t be used with 68000 CPU‘s?
(no libraries for 68000er?)

But your tool is really a very good software. Thumbs up.

Best regards

The 68020 cpu is required by adf.device.
I'm currently working on adding ADZ (done), DMS (done) and HFE files, but in the future I'd like to add support for devices working on a 68000 processor.

Dear Vojo
that sounds very cool...and as I already wrote, your programm seems to be an all in one solution for handling adf-files (in the future, I have to write „disk-files“)
The ACA500Plus is really a masterpiece of hardware to speed up an Amiga500. With the support of CF-Cards, you‘re able to „work“ with it ;-) ...at the moment I don’t have an accelerator card for the ACA, but I‘m dealing with my mind to buy one. Even without an accelerator card, I think the A500 equals to an A1200 withou the AGA-Chipset.

I‘m looking forward to your good work.

Best regards and good luck with your proggie.

Will this work on the Individual Computers ACA500Plus @ WB 3.1?

And can I mount an ADF and run the software from it like a physical floppy?

yes, but 68020+ is needed to use virtual drives. So you need e.g. ACA1220EC too.

68020+ is needed because of speed or extra CPU instructions?

The 68020 cpu is required by adf.device. GoADF uses this device to support virtual drives.

Now that's what I call a nag screen
Jokes aside: cool program! I just registered.

Small bug: On fast Amigas the aboutbox closes immediately (at least in Winuae)

Any ETA for that support?

I will register immediately when virtual drives work on the ACA500Plus (MC68SEC000).

Please go for it if its possible
