SID Installetion on Catweasel MK3

Hi

How do you know which way to install the SID chip into the socket? I am guessing you have to line up the little notches (that way)?

Yep, there should be a notch at one end of the SID chip and the corresponding socket. In addition, Pin 1 on the chip might be marked with a spot. The notch on the socket is closer to Pin 1 than Pin 28.

As an owner of a Catweasel mk4 with 2 sid chips installed that has been unable to get them working since the new cw_config application was added to the drivers can I ask what windows programs support the Catweasel and has anyone managed to make them work the current beta drivers?

Are you asking about Windows programs that exploit all features of the Catweasel card, or the SID chips in particular?

Just the SID chips as I am not making any use of them at the moment.

I use the the floppy controller regularly making adf images of Amiga disk and now and again to write Amiga driver and workbench disk to fresh 3.5" disks to do a fresh install of a real Amiga.

From Wikipedia:

Quote:
The SID chip socket allows Catweasel users to play SID chiptunes on the real chip instead of relying on software emulation for original sounding SID playback. The WinVICE emulator supports the Catweasel's SID features starting with version 1.13.

Yes but sadly the current versions of both programs seem to fail to detect ether of my SID chips.

That is why I was asking which programs really work if any under Windows with the current drivers.

I'm sorry, I don't use any of the SID chip functions of my Catweasel cards.

If you are experiencing problems of that kind, I would advise you to contact Jens Schönfeld, either via the Individual Computers website or via PM to Schoenfeld on EAB.

PS. Have you tried the latest Beta drivers?

That's pointless I'm afraid, he has disabled PMs and probably wouldn't read them even if you did manage to get one through.. Best use the official channels at his website.

I have Catweasel MK4 with a 6581 SID chip installed. Windows 7 32b has detected it and the driver is correctly installed (shown OK on devices list)...but, Acid64 doesn't detect it so I am unable to play C64 samples. Did I miss any step on installation, please??

Thank you.

There is also a jumper to to choose the right voltage for 6581 or 8580 chip.

I suppose it is the one that on the user's guide tells you to enable depending on the chip you're installing. I did it.

I asked for help through the contact email on the Acid64 player webpage and Wilfred very kindly and fast answered and solved the problem:

"You should use an older version of ACID64 for getting support for Catweasel
cards.

The version you need is V2.40. You can get it here:

http://boswme.home.xs4all.nl/acid64/...layer_v240.zip"

You must have connected the internal audio output of the catweasel.
