AmiFTP/AmFTP cant receive FTP file list

I would like to access the file server with WinUAE. I can connect to both Aminet or the two file servers (from Turran and DannyBoy), and it runs OK without any error messages, until it needs to read the file list from the server, when these two programs (ah, and I tested DOPus Magellan too...) waits forever without any clue of whats happening.

Whats going wrong?

I am doing something wrong, or SLiRP does not allow that?

Ah,

I think the issue is that these old programs use only "active" connections and I closed all incoming ports from Windows. I guess this is the way the whole thing works.

I don't remember about those AmiFTP/AmFTP programs, but at least with DOpusFTP you can configure it to use passive connection, which doesn't need any open ports from your side.

Yeah, you need to use FTP in passive mode because slirp is emulated NAT (outbound only).

There are two FTP clients that can be found on Aminet and that operate in passive mode:

http://aminet.net/package/comm/tcp/SimpleFTP
http://aminet.net/package/comm/tcp/SimpleFTP_KeyGen

and

http://aminet.net/comm/tcp/FTPMount.lha

SimpleFTP is written in MUI, while FTPMount works as a standard AmigaDOS file system. These two works on WinUAE and are free.

so AMFtp can not enter the passive mode?

BTW does that SimpleFTP generator work? It creates come key for me, but SimpleFTP doesnt accept it.

It works, but if the name is too short it will not fully overwrite the unregistered name space that is set by default in the config, causing the name to be considered to be incorrect.

Try a longer name...
