How to Reboot Amiga With PS/2 Keyboard
Morning all,
When I purchased my Power Tower from Power Computing many moons ago it came with a really cheap looking white PC keyboard. This is still working without any issue, but it looks (and feels!) bloody horrible. After a quick rummage around on Ebay I found a nice black and silver PS/2 keyboard for just under a fiver. Now, I've got it plugged-in and it seems work pretty much without any issues. The only problem I've got is that the previous window, window and F12 key combination to reset the miggy no longer works. Before I reluctantly go back to the crappy keyboard of old, I just wondered if anyone else had encountered this issue, and if they'd managed to get around it. Perhaps there's another key combination I can try? Is there a way to reboot from the Amiga Shell? Perhaps a reset switch can be installed in my Power Tower? Questions, questions... |

You might be better of downloading a Reboot program from Aminet - there are a couple to choose from but the best one (which I cant remember the name of at the moment but I will have a look) lets you put a reboot option in your pull down tools menu in Workbench - you just right mouse click, click reboot and confirm and the Amiga reboots - no keyboard three finger salute required...

It doesn't seem to recognise the Windows keys as Amiga keys.
Perhaps the old keyboard will have to make an unwelcome return |

I had wired a hardreset button on the amiga MB (a pin on the kb chip set to the ground and it works flawlessly). I don't remember exactly it was ages ago, but I'm sure someone here can explain how to do it. it's very simple (I suck at soldering and I did it anyway)

My PS2 keyboard in my A1200 Tower resets on CTRL-ALT-DEL
Give that a try... @lambrettadave that's a limitation of some keyboard adapters I think. |
