Mediator/Radeon Question

Does anyone have a Mediator using the Radeon graphics card?

I've been collecting the parts necessary to build a Mirage4000 system and I'm a little puzzled by something on Elbox's site. They indicate that the Mediator will only work with a "5 volt only" Radeon card.

As I look on ebay for Radeon cards, none of them say anything about what voltage the cards use. In fact, the only place I see any mention of the voltages required by Radeon cards is on Elbox's site.

I'm afraid if I buy the wrong card I will damage something.

I guess my question, is this a ploy by Elbox to coax people into buying Radeon cards from them vs. acquiring them cheaper on ebay?

Anyone know something of this voltage issue with Radeon cards?

I'm looking at a spare x1900GT 256MB card I have lying around and it says it's a 5.7V card. Some older radeons are 3.3 or less, but no idea which is which. I can't find any other voltage information on the web. If this x1900GT is any use to you I can sell it for a reasonable price.

That has to be what the differentiation they are talking about - some cards being 3.3volt and others 5.7 volt. Yes, I am interested. PM sent.

I have one of these:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/ATI-Radeon...item564849333e

This would be fine as it's a dual voltage card (3.3 & 5v)

I think Amigakit sell these too

All the best,

Steve.

Ah ha. So now you have two options, my PCI Express card (256mb, 575Mhz) or Steve's PCI (not express) card (128mb, 240Mhz) - so I guess it all depends on what type of graphics slot you have/require. PM also sent.

Mediator takes only PCI not PCI Express

List of supported cards on Elbox's site.

All the best,

Steve.
