Amigakit's ROM switcher... A600

Aghhhhhhhhhhh!!! please PLEASE help guys, having numerous probs getting this to work, I've got the original ks2.04 (37.350) on the bottom and ks1.3 on the top, after realising a few of the pins were bent on the rom switcher connection and straightening them I plugged it in again and although I get a green light now... nothing, black blank screen, do I have the chips the wrong way around or is the 'jumper' in the wrong place?!?! Uploading pics.. now! By the way, the ks1.3 chip works just fine on it's own in the A600 as does the ks2.04

Here we go...

Looks right to me.

Try holding down Ctrl-A-A for 5 secs until like changes colour, does it work then?

If not, try swapping the chips, put bottom one at top and top at bottom.

Top = Primary rom.

OK, so the ROM switcher is working by your tests- and of course every ROM switcher is tested before despatch to customers.

It is a connection problem. One or more of the ROM plug pins may not be making a good connection with the ROM socket on the motherboard.

So, the red means one of the ROMS is being used and the green means another is being used? I'll try and resettle the connection, starting from pins 3/4 right as per pic and the jumper as per pic and as it came yea?

Also check if the ribbon cable is not snagged/twisted.

The red Led illuminates when one Kickstart is being used and green Led illuminates when the other ROM is activated upon holding down CTRL-AMIGA-AMIGA.

BTW: here is the technical document on our website: http://www.amigakit.co.uk/support/rom-switcher.php

As I had issues with Indivision ECS and some socket risers due to fiting Indy ECS+A603 with Apollo 630...
Matthew is right. Most probable issue is that the kickstart rom connector isn't making a good connection in all pins. Best thing u can do is run a continuity test with a Multimeters in every Pin between Amiga Kick socket and Switchers socket. That way you'll know for sure if it's a matter of kick not sitting right or cable fault.

It's not necessarily dead, I'd expect it to have some sort of thermal shutdown feature. However it is short circuited either internally or (much more likely) externally. Make sure no pins are touching eachother.

The only reason the chip will be as hot as it is, is if its shorted. Which also explains why it isn't working.

I test every rom switcher before it leaves.

Try the chips in the a600 on their own. If both are fine, then insert one in the top slot of rom switcher. See if it boots, if so add the second rom.
