I noticed one user was banned (although not permanently) for what amounted to racist comments. What about homophobic comments? Anyone feel that should be banned as well.... I ask cos the same user made some of those comments as well and TBH I'd be quite happy (as would the people who have PM'd me) to see the back of this individual.

Discuss...

If anyone is offended by this individual`s comments then a ban would be appropriate,I agree that the word faggot is used way too much by some users but is this meant as a homophobic insult? Or just someone with an off the wall sense of humour who likes the word Faggot and uses it to describe anybody, regardless of sexual orientation?Whatever the reasons the mods need to make it clear whether this language is acceptable on this forum.

I think people who offend other by calling them 'Faggot','gay' or any other insults should be banned. I also noticed that there's double standards in this forum. Some users are allowed to say what they want others not. I always thought this is an Amiga forum, that is the reason I joined, and all topics should be related with Amigas.

I think every case is a different one, moderators deciding whether a ban of a certain member is necessary or not. In the off-topic forum moderation is kept "to a minimum" so i think it's more "faggot-sensitive"

Don't get offended too easily though, a decent amount sense of humor is always a good thing. Some of you have plenty, for some it's almost non-existent. And don't read the off-topic forum if you are of the latter one...fag!

Let's keep up the Amiga spirit...mmkay?

It has nothing to do with sense of humor.

Depends on how you understand a post and if it's meant to be humorous.

I don't honestly see what the problem is!

The user you are referring to is obv Fred.. now to be perfectly blunt I don't have a problem with him posting his random shite in off-topic as long as:

1). It isn't racist, political or religous or overly nasty towards another member
2). Its not sick, over rude or gory

If anybody is giving real homophobic grief and calling another user a variety homophobic names (in a derogative manner) or taking the piss then I would have an issue with that and I would step in.

Now Fred calls everybody and I mean EVERYBODY faggot or similar at some point.. he doesn't mean anything by it, it's his sense of humour and if you don't like it then don't go reading in the off-topic section.

If anybody replies in a thread calling you faggot or whaever and you don't like it then you have 2 options.

1). PM the offending user and ask them to stop it, if it doesn't stop pm a mod
2). PM a mod and ask them to intervene..

Fred is actually an okay kinda guy and if you sent him a PM stating your feelings he would apologise!

If you knew the posts I was alluding to you would see there was a clear suggestion that two EAB members were gay and "active". Now, there would be nothing in itself wrong with that but the poster clearly meant his comments in a malicious and offensive way. That SHOULD (IMHO) be something we stomp on.

Why should we do the work? You are the mod. You are responsible for what is going on in the forums.

Sorry but this statement is wrong !!!! Even if we are the MODs : WE CANNOT SEE EVERYTHING GOING ON HERE !

So we NEED reports, this is how a community works ....
