FCK DRM a GOG Ininiative!

Yes, those nice chaps at GOG have launched a DRM Educating website with a rather funky name called FCK DRM: https://fckdrm.com/

It even has a quote by Lord Gaben himself saying 'most DRM strategies are just dumb', so he's quoted on a site advocating DRM FREE yet he still allows DRM on Steam, oh the Irony

Think this is an exercise in futility really, if they had launched FCKEA.com or FCKUBI.com it might have made more sense, but this site just tells us what we already know about DRM, you don't OWN anything that has DRM!

I already boycott DRM, never bought anything from Electronic Arseholes or Ubi Shite since they forced their DRM on you and last purchase on steam was Jan 2017, so yeah, FCK DRM

I never buy anything which requires any form of online access to authenticate me as the valid owner. Beware, that even games which explicitely tell you "internet is only required during installation" may become useless after some time!

Some time ago I bought X-Com, which is my only game which required me to install Steam. Ok... I absolutely wanted it, so I installed Steam to be able to install the game from the DVD I already own.

Immediately after installation I analysed all communication to Steam and Fireaxis (publisher of X-Com) over my router (a NetBSD server, where I am in full control), which still occured after the installation was done, and blocked everything. The game still worked and I was happy for the moment.

But after more than a year the Steam client, which is linked into the game, asked for an internet connection for a forced update! Even without ever being online again. Steam has a timer implemented, which checks the date! I could prove that by resetting my system date to an earlier point.

That's scam, IMHO! On the box was written I only have to be online during installation.

Now I can only play when I manipulate my date! And no, I will not let Steam go online ever again, because this would be the chance to exchange all the data it collected!

Avoid DRM in any form! Steam is one of it!

Just FCK all games and their prices then! The fact they don't need to print manuals, press discs, make packaging or distribute a 'physical' product should make it cheaper? Yeah, sorry, we're talking about greed, mass profits and rip off publishers, not some fair and reasonable company that puts the customer first!

Some of GOG's non-DRM games seem to have some DRM, Battletech needs a Paradox account to play MP and get DLC and pre-order bonuses, but go offline and those all disappear!!
