X11 on Amiga
Hello,
Is there any X11 servers for the Amiga 500? I would also like know if there are any X11 for any other amiga as well. I am probably going to use terminal emulator anyways to get a connection between my RPi and A500 but X11 would be cool. Last edited by GhstWlf; 17 May 2015 at 18:57. |

If you just want a terminal, just use NComm.
Optionally if its over TCP/IP add telser.device |

Not to hijack your thread, but seeing this is about X11 on Amiga anyway.
Is there any X11 server for AmigaOS3 that runs rootless? Xami seems to only open its own screen or run in a window. |

Yes, it was sold by (his company?) GfxBase, Inc. There's a review at ftp://ftp.cs.tu-berlin.de/pub/amiga/text/GfxBase-X.txt
It mentions the minimum requirement just being 1MB RAM. GfxBase also produced the GDA-1 framebuffer card which their X server supported. Does anyone have a copy of the GfxBase X software? |

As long as GfxBase doesn't require anything more than a 68000, I would be happy.

I've used Xami before on the Amiga, but not on an a500. Performance is going to be horrible for sure - if there is even a 68000 build that doesn't require a gfxcard.
worked quite well on an 060 + gfxcard though http://malus.exotica.org.uk/~buzz/pics/gimp.jpg |

I just quickly setup Xami and also Holgar Kruse's AmiWin.
So far it seems as if AmiWin is *massively* faster, solid moving a window is actually quite smooth on it. Xami can be very slow. |
