Happy I wish my girlfriend was this dirty*

Got my (free) A600 today, she's one dirty mother. Loads of disks too.

Let the cleaning commence

Oh, not sure if she works or not so I'll try that tonight.... warranty seals broken, uh oh, may have Apollo 630 in there (I hope)...

Pics to follow...

* I don't have one yet

Not as dirty as she appears in this pic but she is dirty.... washing begins tomorrow

Just had her on testing and she works great after not being powered up for almost 10 years

well, I have a ide-flash adapter which I was going to use in my A530 so I'm going to use that and buy another for my 530

Would like one of the 8MB fast ram expansion devices for her too...

ok opened her up.

A300 Rev. 1.

Anything of concern with the first revision of the A600? The KS rom could probably do with an upgrade (37.300). I have a later (i think) KS 2 rom in my 500 KS Switch that I may use for this

Do upgrade that ROM, it has issues with the IDE.

I only had it on for 5 mins

anywho, will be looking into replacing the electrolytic caps. The SMD type caps appear to be okay from a quick glance. No sign of leakage...

There are loads of screws missing too so I'll have to route round and find some. Disk drive is clogged with dust.... yay something to do

I'll be the judge of whether that Amiga is dirtier than your girlfriend.

Post up some pics of your gf and I'll let you know

I concur. Or that russian 8MB expansion, if they've made a batch.

If you have a clockboard or such, with electrolytic capacitors, you can replace them if they look dodgy. On the other hand, I have 6 Amigas that are all 14+ years old, and they all work fine without having replaced a single cap. But if you know your electronics stuff you already know how to service and take care of your loved ones <3

Just a bit opposed to this 'yay, got an old computer and it's working perfectly! now where's my soldering gun' Making sure IDE works (kick upgrade), using a CF, etc is all good ofc. But the main thing to check/make sure is the PSU. Open it, look for any heat marks, measure voltages.

Yup, would like to increase mem at some point, will wait and see what happens with Zettys 8MB from russia with love debacle

PSU is no concern as I use an ATX jobbie - after one of my C= PSU's frying in the past no chance... and I'm not servicing one of those as I may blow myself up

Cleaned the keyboard up tonight...

Just waiting for her to dry out

Oh and cleaned the case up the other night - came out quite well I thought...

Refitted the LED pcb and trapdoor panel tonight...

Motherboard is pretty clean so I won't bother throwing it in the dishwasher. Just give her a little dust over.. Shielding is in good nick too
