Can anyone make this demo work?
I wonder if anyone can find out any settings or whatever to make this demo run in the emulator. It's actually a demo by my own group (LOL!) called Draco, but for some reason it's not running on the emulator. It requires kickstart 1.3 and 1 MB of memory (on a real A500), but it won't run in the emulator, but maybe there are other settings I need to do too? Am not too used to emulators yet, so I hope someone can give me some tips.
Here's the URL: Download the demo here This is a site with all our (Draco) productions, they were made in the early 90's. The demo I'm asking about is the XCopy Demo. The others seem to run fine in the emulator. But by all means, check them all out, just for the heck of it! |

I got the flood fill logo, then it just bombed.
I tried it with the KillAGA under 3.1 and on 2.0 and it just doesn't want to know. I'll try on my Amiga later on....it didn't work. Crashed after decrunching. I'd bet on a KS 1.2/1.3 500 |

Yeap
Something is wrong with the decrucher IMO, causing a total freeze using WinUAE ................... However I have posted an adf version (Which I just made, piece of piss) and it works fine with WinFellow, using Kickstart 1.3. Just stick it in and start WinFellow
Try de-compressing the file, then it'll probably work in WinUAE as well. Last edited by Ian; 11 August 2001 at 00:54. |

I tried de-compressing the file with xfdDecrunch by typing in CLI
xfdDecrunch prgrams:xcopydemo but with no luck. After de-compressing the file, it will not run at all. I get failed returncode 10 error. Oh well, Worth a try. |

I didn't have time to check it out last night, but it looks like a TetraPack/Defjam Packer which means that it is address crunched. XFD can decrunch it, but it won't run.
In the latest XFD there is a program that can try and fix it. |

Thanks guys for helping, it's just a pity it doesn't seem to work. I'm not the coder so I don't know what the actual coder did (or didn't do) in order for it to not work right on the emulators. I guess there's not much to do then except for maybe wait for a new version of WinUAE to come out that can handle it?
But no, the demo won't probably run in 2.0 or higher, it was made for an 1.3. I'm not even sure if it runs on an 1.2. Did anyone try the other demos from that site, and did they seem to run fine? Even on other versions than 1.3? I guess they're not the best demos out there, but hope you like them anyway, they weren't spread alot back then in the early 90's, so they're pretty rare I guess and most people haven't seen them before. Oh, and that mod.. LOL!.. it was some silly mod that were used in the demo as a "naughty bonus", kind of like an easter egg I guess. It's some silly x-rated "song" in Swedish. It also had a naughty animation to go with it. That's probably why they removed this demo from Aminet. But I am not sure why they put that naughty animation in the demo to begin with. The funny part of the demo would be the first part (with an XCopy screen) though, so if anyone got to at least see that part, that was the purpose of the demo. |

Some more help?
Can anyone give me the URL to the ADF-ZONE, I can't seem to find it. And also, if anyone would be kind enough to put all the Draco demos from that site in my first post into one ADF file, I'd be really grateful, I don't know how to make ADF files myself. They should all fit in one disk image file.
And Walker (or Shame), really nice to see you again, it's been quite a while! That was a nice surprise to find an old member of Draco here, thought I'd never hear from ya again! |
