New USB stack available on Aminet (kick 1.3 compatible!)

Quote:
ANAIIS, acronym for Another Native Amiga IO Interface Stack, is a quick and dirty software solution that brings the possibilities of the Universal Serial Bus (USB) to the basic Amiga 2000, with 68000 at 7.14Mhz, and the ZorroII card Highway from E3B. Yes you have read it: 68000, not 68020 or higher, with at minimum Kickstart 1.3 or higher.

Impressive achievement if it does actually work on a stock A2000.

Edit: mrodfr....yes, the software is in its early stages and we can't expect support for every USB card available. I imagine that the author will have to make it shareware sooner or later if long-term development is to occur, though.

I know someboyd might "kill me" for this...but anyway..here it goes..
I ha ve a completely brand new-never before used Elbox Spider II i bought from eBay more than a year ago

I dont know why, my head was God knows where, i got no usb stack.
Later i realized about Chris fight against Elbox, so suddenly i had no way of using my Spider II.
I can promise its never been used, and is sitting here, next to me, laughing of my bad luck

do you guys think that this stack would be good for my Spider II?

In case anyone is interested and has a copy of the Poseidon stack (which i dont, becasue i was away of the Amiga scene for a while), im willing to sell/trade the card, so another Amiga user can give the use it deserves, and that i couldnt ever give

Regards

Sebastian

Sorry to bump up this old thread, but if you see some guru or issues using ANAIIS when started under cli, you should increase the stack size like the following

stack 8000
run sys:system/usbstart >NIL:

under workbench there is no problem. The bugs disappear one by one.

Anaiis USB stack updated to 0.99

taken from aminet readme:
"At minimum, you need:
- Amiga 68000 at 7.14MHz
- a Highway or a Subway card
- some RAM (70 Ko for a mouse and a keyboard)

V0.99 09-Jan-2011 Fix speed issue (keyboard wont SetAddress).
17-Nov-2010 Stack issue (CLI only, set stack 8000 before launching).
02-Nov-2010 Cosmetics in GUI.
14-May-2010 GUI now works with WB1.1.

This is awesome news, I'm going to install it on my A600 straight away!

Anaiis is an awesome USB stack, it's such a shame more people don't know they can have USB support on their A600 and A2000. But as long as Vesalia and AmigaKit continue to falsely advertise the Subway as requiring a 68030 or higher, this USB stack will barely get used by anyone.

Yes, ANAIIS deserve far better spotlight.

Poseidon is, without any doubt, covering far more USB devices, but that's something usual for software being developed over a prolongued time frame. I have both stacks installed in A500; my expectations from Poseidon are almost exausted, particulary after last version finally solved a terrible performance issue when used with USB-Ethernet bridge. If ANAIIS starts supporting that kind of USB class, I'll reconsider phasing out Poseidon since it is a resource hog (eats FastRAM as hell, perhaps that might be less important if Jens finalize ACA530, but for less expanded A500 that's unacceptable).

Anyway, congrats for Gillo and all other testers.

Any other suggestions, please let us know.

Grap of hubs removal fixed.
Massive can now mount/unmount disk (< 512Mo )
Massive can also write on disks.
Unmount command added (work also on wb1.3)

If you see some bugs, don't hesitate to tell it.
The road is long...
